hmm. good question.

In the past it I continued to do "bad things" because I didn't realize "what I do now will affect me in the future"

very basic concept, but a lot harder to put into effect.

I do bad things now, that really arn't good for me. Like smoke, or stay up late simply because they are my choices. I can do what I want/enjoy and living sober is not one of those things.

It's all about bad habits. We fall into a rut that we become comfortable with. We are sometimes taught this kind of behaviors as a child without even realizing it, so we continue to do these things as adults. I know changing these habits are difficult but it can be done one day at a time. I learned through therapy that if you can do something for three days in a row it will most likely become a habit.

Because our disposition (not personality) is such that we are born with certain frailties. We tend to repeat those 'faults' until we discover what is behind them and make a change However none of us will ever be perfect, so I'll just keep the faults I have and keep on trying not to repeat them... but I probable will.
