If our third child is going to be a girl this is the name we have wanted since our firstborn, although he turned out to be a boy same as our second. My only concern(and maybe this is stupid) is that Shiloh is Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolies daughter's name. Even though we had this name picked out way before they had their daughter, I'm just afraid people will think we copied them and I'll always here things like"Oh! just like Brad Pitt and Angelina's baby!" or "Isn't that what Brad Pitt and Angelina named their baby?" I don't care that they would have the same name I just don't want to deal with the questions..am I being stupid!?

You may get some people who are rude enough to concern themselves with where you got your baby's name, but just smile and say don't all of us have great taste in baby names.
Besides I think Shiloh is a beautiful name.I know a lady who named her daughter Shiloh Renee. It's one of those names you just like so say. I'll even bet she's going to be as pretty as her name. Good luck and remember from the day they are born til the day they are on their own is only a heartbeat away.
enjoy every minute that they are small.

If you don't want to be hassled about Brad and Angelina, call the child something else. If i was in a similar situation i would call the child the name that seemed right, and if Shiloh is that name then don't worry about what people think, you will know that you chose the name before they 'hijacked' it.

Actually I LIKE the name Shiloh, but I imagine you will get comments about it being the same name as Brad/Angie's daughter...but what does that matter?! IF it really does bother you though, how about a name similar & yet a little bit uncommon...
Shianne or Skylar or Shannon?

Don't worry when she's older Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie probley won't be famous any more! Or we can all hope LOL!

I love the name, I have a friend named Shilo, no "h" maybe spell it differently.
A couple I lived with named their daughter Brittany after Brittany spears, they where going to spell it different, but forgot when they filled out the birth register.
People can think what ever they want, my mother in law didn't like my Son's name (Soren) she said she'd never call him that, but she does now.

Shiloh is most significant as a place of battle. It has sounds quite the contrary, as in the softness of "sh", and "oh." It's both quaint, as in historic fact, and in regionalism. It's pretty. It's lilting. The mid part of the name has the sound of "isle", as in island, adventure, sea, -sort of nature born. Ít's well known as a "dramatic" word. It is polarized - either mas. or fem. The phonetic lilt forms two words: shy and low. Historic use of the name is probably more massive than limited to the common need to confront celebrity use as reason for not using the name. In English, some "sounds" are comforting, and others are not. This is a comfortable word and a good name. Over 20 years, celebrity will not affect your choice.

Of for crying out loud! Get a grip and grow up! If you want to name your daughter a name you've loved for years, then do it and to hell with what everyone else thinks!

I think you're being stupid if you're worried about that people will think you're imitating a celebrity couple. On the other hand, she will get a lot of teasing for being named after a beloved book dog who got turned into a movie.

My concern is that there is a very famous book (and sequel), plus several movies based on those books, about a dog named Shiloh. This book is on the required reading lists for many elementary schools (around 3rd grade); kids can be very cruel. The books are called "Shiloh" and "Shiloh Season."

They are good books, don't get me wrong, and the dog is a great character. But, it is still a book about a dog.

Well, I personally don't even like the name Shiloh. It reminds me of the books/movies about the dog AND Brad and Angelina's baby, so why use it?

If you like the name use it!!! I'm pretty sure Brad & Angelina aren't the only other people who have used that name ^_^

No, you're not being stupid but I don't think you should use that name. It sounds like a name for a dog. Good luck and congrats!
