There's not enough water on the earth to cover the land. Where does your dad think this water will come from? If the ice melts, the sea level will go down. It's already displacing water and if it melts, it's mass will decrease.

Well from a non biblical standpoint I'd say that the evidence suggests that long before the ice caps completely melt that they will melt enough to decrease the salinization levels(salt levels) of the ocean and that will in turn completely stop the Gulf stream or continental drift and that will cause northern europe to go into an ice age which will actually have a reversing effect on water levels as more ice will then be on the ice caps and that will actually lower the ocean levels,.. So I'd be more concerned about any long term investments in Northern European Real estate since National Geographic discovered that the last three ice ages started in only 3 years.

My guess is that your dad, like many dads, tell themselves that the world will flood soon or that the end of times are upon us because it offeres them a solution to what they know are terminal problems with the way this earth and it's politics, it's values that place profit over life, so feeling largely incapable of attempting to solve these federal and global issues directly, sadly, in my opinion, most resort to finding comfort in calamity. Comprende?

Not completely, no, but I think that the earth changes are ripe for it, volcanoes, ice melting, all have an effect on the state of earth's water. So, I dont think the world will cover with water, but, I think the sea level will likely rise, causing many floods and hurricanes and the like. Flooding the major shorelines. Anythings possible....

Ocean-wise, no. Inland-wise, local floods, yes. Most parts of the world will get wet more often and with higher than normal precipitation. Sea levels will remain much the same as now. Ocean levels a few centimetres higher won't cause floods. Rainstorms inland, will cause floods. Just my opinion.

Yes, started believing it after a while. Do I think it will happen soon? No, But I'm guessing in least 10 years most 50 years, we will have a big flood. Everything will go under water. Including the tallest building we have. Their will maybe be a small percentage of people who will survive in the short term, but die in the long term. What happenes happenes.

If the world were to flood it would be because of Global Warming. This is still a myth but hey if it does happen, we'll find a way to adapt.
