In my XP Pro my text select cursor is white. I have changed my pointer and it still does not work?

In what programs?
I am not sure why you think changing the cursor would have an effect - normally text selection is done in an opposing color to the text. There may be a choice in Tools Options to control the selection color for each program and in Control Panel / Display for overall, but I haven't noticed it in the years I have worked.
