I have changed my number several times and have never been required to renew my contract.
I have heard of people being charged a small fee to change their number though.

No. You can change numbers usually over the phone with Customer Care. I have Tmobile and they charge $15 to change numbers. You do not have to start a new contract to change phone numbers with any provider.

I don't know about Sprint specifically but Verizon required a new one year contract to change my number.

No sir, i just changed my number a month ago because someone in Texas (i live in Michigan) was using my number as their own! All they did was have me put a code on my phone and changed my number. I also have Sprint so i can compare. Good luck with that!

I just had my cell # changed by request to Verizon. They had given me one that was a toll call to my cell from my home #. So now I have a local # and NO, they didn't make me sign a new contract..same one..:-)

No they didn't make me sigh nw contrat when i had to get my numberchnged. They willjust eave it the way it is. If you are going to be usig the samehone that has your contacts in then you arenot oingto have to add your cotacts all over gai. if you get a new phone you would have to add all thecntacs in it again. They also make you pay acharge fee. That will go onto you next billing period. hope this helps

I don't think so, I've known people who changed their number for other reasons and did so smoothly.
If you don't want to wait on the phone, go to their website, to the support section, you can chat with a customer service person and ask them.

No, most cellular companies will merely update your phone and the information on your existing contract. You might need to go into a local store for update info.

I think that they'll charge you, and they only make me sign a new contract when they don't want to hold onto it any longer!!!
