I think Ottawa could sweep them in a best of 7

There is no way that Detroit would be able to win a series against Ottawa or Minnesota. Detroit simply doesn't have enough depth to be the best team in the NHL.

Is this question designed to win friends or gain a support group or confirm something important to your fragile ego? When all is said and done, if people don't agree with you, you won't consider them for best answer which means this seems to be designed to give your friends/co-conspirators a boost up in Y!.
First, I don't think the Wings are the best team in the league and second I'm offended by your question.

I think they are currently playing better than anyone. I know Ottawa has a better win ratio, but I think Detroit would smash the Senators if they were to play right now. As for best team, I'd say they are top 3.

HELL NO!!! I will NEVER agree that the Red Wings are the best team in the NHL. EVER. Even if they go 82-0, and 16-0 in the playoffs, I will still find a reason to say they aren't the best.

Montreal would have the most Stanley Cups (24), followed by Toronto (13) with Detroit in 3rd (10)...

So I guess that would make them 3rd best in the NHL...

I'm not in agreement, I think they would have serious issues with the Sens and Flyers (once Boulerice, Downie and Jones come back that is)

How could you say that when Ottawa are ranked #1, they have the best forward line in the league (Spezza, Alfredsson, Heatley), and Hasek is not having as good a year as he did last year. They are one of those teams that play great hockey in the regular season and then choke big time in the playoffs. Last year they did okay, though. The Swedish connection is their strongest component.
