I went to the doctor today and I am 3 1/2 cm and 35% effaced....My doctor said that the baby is measuring at 37 1/2.. I am 37 weeks and 2 days so everything is fine there.....She also said she would see me in a week unless I go into labor before then... Could I stay at 3 1/2 cm and 35% effaced for along time or could it change really quick?.. I am SOO ready to have my baby.........with my 1st I was induced at 38 weeks and never had any labor signs but I was 3 cm dialated with her at 37 weeks also.

To everyone else -- thank you for the info! I guess when she is ready to come out she will! My doctor told me to walk a lot so I will be doing that!

I was dilated to a 3 and 90% effaced for two whole weeks before my labor was induced. My sister is who is now pregnant is dialated to a 2 and is 20% effaced and she is not due until Nov. 12th. Once dialation starts labor can happen at anytime. I hope this helps. Congratulations!!!

If this is your first baby you will dilate before you have significant effacement (means your cervis is thinning out) but subsequent pregnancies usually efface first and then dilate. Oh you can definitely have your baby any day now. I was like you with my first baby. I just wanted him out!!!! I was checked for dilation and effacement at 37 weeks and nothing! Next week visit doctor said 2cm dilated and 0% effacement... I was so disappointed so I walked, ate spicy foods, did squats and then had sex that same day. My water broke at 3am while I was asleep. I heard that semen will weaken the cervix which is why our Dr said you can have sex but no ejaculating! We are expecting baby #3 right now and I really believe that because my 2nd son was a month early because of this. Hang in there your almost done... believe me when its over you'll wish you were pregnant again because the hard part is about to start :0)

I was 100% effaced and dilated to 4 for 2 days before going into labor. My friend was dilated to 3 for 2 weeks. It could be today, or next week. Good luck.
