Well, speaking from someone that's born and raised a Floridian... I have to say, it's a little of both. North Florida (which could be a totally seperate state from South Florida) is "The South" because it's so close to Georgia. But South Florida is very much East-Coast. But like someone else said, Florida is very much like it's own entity. And it is DEFINITELY NOT the "Deep South." Definitely not. Not even North Florida is like that.

Nah...can't consider Florida the south and most certainly not the deep south as someone has suggested. I consider it its own entity. Neither east coast or "the south". It's just "the state down there at the bottom".

I'm from Washington State. Florida is the East Coast.
Florida is a southern state in name only.
Besides, there weren't any great armies or great battles in Florida during the Civil War.
They were all enjoying the sunshine!
