Stage crew is hard because you have to remember what to do and how to do it. You deal with different things every time no matter how many times you have practiced it.
Acting is hard because you have to say lines, move to certain places, have facial expressions and not make it dull for the audience. If you screw up, it is very obvious and everyone knows who to blame. Set crew can blame a bunch of different people.
Personally, I think acting is harder because you have to memorize and try to tell a story. Set Crew, you use knowledge and problem solve. It sounds trickier but there are a lot of ways to fix mistakes quickly. If you screw up on stage super badly, you can't change it.

Crew, without a doubt. The toughest thing in crew when running a show is to be completely invisible to the audience. If your timing is off, a set piece gets tangled, the lights burn out, etc., YOU are responsible for ruining the willing suspension of disbelief.
But no pressure.
Acting is easy. All you actors out there, if you never see your crew apart from the main deck running crew during the show, it means that they are a superb team.

Acting takes some time to master stage crew work is pretty much monkey work but you are more a star than the stars hahaha you see the way a performance is ran from the inside out...it's really quite challenging at first but then it just becomes routine.

I have done both, and i belive each has its hardships. Stage crew where I was had to spend ALOT of time adjusting the 200 or so small lights up abovee the stage in the catwalks, along with sound, cues, set change and all that other jazz. Acting there is auditioning, line meorization, getting in cahracter, however both are neccessary fo each other.

I think that stage crew has to be harder. You have to know everyone else's lines and cues. then you have to know all your own stuff like where props go exaclty, cause if you mess up at all then everyone gets thrown off. i have been on both ends of that and if there is something that has gone wrong, that unless you work with an amazing cast and people that can improvise quickly everything can possibly blow up in your face.

Both are important to the final production. But on opening night, the actors must do their job to justify all the backstage preparation! Lights! Sound! Makeup! Props! Costume, etc, etc.!! Anyone who says crewing is "Monkey Work" has probably never done it well, or has no skill in carpentry, painting, designing, etc.!!

i love acting and it comes naturally so i would have to say crew is harder
but remember each person is different. the best way for you to find out is to try each out on your own
