pentium d, 1 gig mem, sapphire radeon 1650.....

its a gaming machine but the games don't work (everything else does-so far). I've updated the video and sound cards, and windows. I simply don't know what else I could do. Games aren't *that* important to me, but Second Life is, as I am a content creator there.
Things like Half Life: Lost Coast and SLife crash with no error message (save a send crash report), and they crash randomly, between 0-and 15 minutes of game use- usually crashes within the first 5. Any clues?

ok, so I've updated DIRECTX and several reliable sources tell me that my system specs are fine, and everything should work....what else could possibly be wrong?

Video card could be overheating due to poor case ventilation. Try running a game w/ case open and w/ an electric fan pointing towards video card.

Power supply may also have a weak/unstable +12V rail. Try a power supply with at least 18 amps on the +12V rail.

update the gfx drivers

Try turning the video settings on LOW. That should help. That is not the best card. Also 1GB of Ram is pushing it for gaming. You are probably overloading the card. that is why its crashing. It heats up and quits. Putting everything on low should help.

Try to reinstall the driver and directX. The main problem may be within the video card.
