Jenna, do you really need a source? You have plenty of free time, go look it up yourself. (wonders why I need a source to ask a question)

Thomas G. I am not assuming ANYTHING. If you haven't noticed I am a liberal myself. I directed this question to LIBERAL ATHEIST. Not one time did I say that all liberals are atheist. Stop putting words in my mouth. Read the question again. You're the one that is assuming. Seriously, how uneducated could I be to think that all Liberals are atheist. I was specifically talking about the ones that were atheist.

Again, I am not assuming that ALL Republicans are religious or that all Liberals ridicule Republicans. It's a question for those to do it. Thanks! End of argument.

If the religious beliefs they hold are ridiculous I think it does help my cause to point that out in the name of reason and rationality. They might not like it but sometimes it's necessary.
I also prefer not to be overly ridiculing or certainly not insulting but if you use their own words and rhetoric and they feel ridiculed I think it's time THEY did some serious soul searching

How about Liberal Agnostic:? I have no cause to sustain damage and no qualms about exposing and ridiculing hypocrisy when and IF I see it. I figure I am within the same tradition as Mark Twain, H L Menken, and a host of others that look in askance at some of the craziness within American Society. I hope you are not defending the dominionist evangelicals of the " Left Behind" persuasion.
For the and the Pat Robertson " X-tians " I have little but ridicule to offer. They deserve being satirized. They're a threat to the Constitution and the Republic.
I guess it depends on which religious beliefs you refer to.
Mormonism? Buddhism? Scientology ? or Protestant or Catholic faiths? As long as we have a separation between church and state, I don't care. Practice and believe what you like. When a political party works in conjunction with an exclusive religious cult, then I have no problems with well deserved ridicule. They bring it on themselves.

I'm not a "liberal atheist," but I think this silly question deserves an answer anyway.
I think everyone ought to feel free to ridicule "Republican" religious beliefs, because if your religion is Republicanism, then you are bound for a sinner's hell.
And if you're saying you meant Christianity, then why does the Savior's name not appear at all in your question?
That's the problem with the Religious Right...now their religion is "Republicanism" or "Conservatism."
They have forgotten they are supposed to be following a man who died on the cross and rose again 3 days later...
And by the way, here's a news flash for you--there are Conservatives who are lost and bound for a sinner's hell as well as "liberals." Those who do not accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior are bound for eternity in hell, according to scripture.

What exactly is my cause??? Every civilization throughout history has had a god or gods. What makes all of them wrong and christians right? Nothing.
I ridicule "religious republicans" because I find it horrendous that they preach about loving thy neighbor and turning the other cheek and yet have no problem denying health care to kids and bombing brown people.
How is that not more ridiculous then me having a laugh at the expense of "religious republican"?????

Probably the same way it helps Republicans when they foist their so-called beliefs on the rest of us. They love to use them as a club. They love to talk about them, but I have yet to see them actually practice them. When they do that, I might listen. Until then, they are a great reason to stay away from the possible benefits of Christian faith
Besides, this question implies that only Republicans can be Christian. I never noticed that in the Bible, but then, the word "trinity" isn't there either.

I don't have an issue with them as long as they are not pushing their holy word, god, jesus, snake charming, tithing, on me or my kid. Especially in school.
They can believe any fool thing they want, as far as I'm concerned, but when you start building "museums" and creating "science" to back your religious beliefs, that's where I draw the line. If you wanna build a church, build a church, don't try and pass it off as a museum or some historical or scientific bastion of knowledge.

Republicanism isn't a religion, it's a political movement. Republican party membership is open to all people regardless of religious beliefs, including athiests.

Not basing laws on their superstitious beliefs might save them from such ridicule regardless of their political associations. They seem to enjoy it though. It seems to feed their persecution complexes. They are taught that disagreement is ridicule. Much like Noah building a boat in the middle of no where they are convinced (brainwashed) into believing that if they just keep the faith, they'll get a reward.

No, but it's a subtle distinction between that and ridiculing political policies that are inapropriately /based/ on those religious beliefs.
