I believe it is 13 for both, but you may want to check with your local Dept of Social Services. They should know for sure. Realize too that maturity plays a huge part of it. In my opinion, a 10 year old that is extremely mature and responsible would be left alone much sooner than a 13 year old (legal or not) that isn't.

It is legally 10 years old to stay home completely alone for about 30 minutes at a time. Babysitting is about 12 depending on the maturity.

12 or 13. But if you were to ask a 12 or 13 year old to babysit your children then i suggest you find a responsible kid, because it really all depends on the kid's attitude and how responsible they are because some kids just want the money and will just let your kid cry the whole night.
But if the situation was to just let a kid stay home alone then proably 12 or 13 too.

i believe that it is 12 or 13
cuz thatz when my parent said that it was ok to stay home
but i think that the person should b at least 14 or 15 to watch a younger child
cuz during that time they r takin classes n stuff to help them learn about child care
plus at that age u have enough sence to know how to take care of a younger child
as for when they r 12 or 13 they have no clue
cuz people r basically still takin care of them all day

It doesn't matter how mature a 10 year-old is, it is still illegal to leave them home alone. I believe most states require a kid to be at least 13 to babysit and to be left home alone, but not overnight.

well just because a child is 12 or 13 and it is legal i think the parent needs to be mature and honest and ask is the child smart enough to be left alone or to baby sit.do not assume they are many kids get hurt because they are left alone too young or they are trusted to baby sit and are not mature enough to handle it.good luck.

i know in California to babysit u must be 16 to be home alone its 13 i belive

Depends on which state you live in. In Washington state, it is 12yrs old.

it depends on where you live. there is no age limit in my town, just as long as the kids are responsible
