Need something that keeps you warm but not too warm as shoveling snow works up a sweat. Also want something that will keep you dry if your shoveling during a major storm

Ditto what Allen said. Coveralls work best because when you bend over you won't get snow down your butt-crack!

I wear LL Bean rubber boots, Carhartt coveralls, and an old wool sweater. If it is really bad I throw on an old Columbia ski jacket I have for extra warmth.

If it's snowing that g-damned hard I just wait til the freakin' storm is over. Where the hell are you gonna go in the snow anyway?

Get a full coverall set-(body suit) they are lined and cheap keeps you flexible
get some scotch guard weather proofing spray and spray it down in the garage before cold weather sets in
Kmart for both items probably $50.00 Tl

They are a bit expensive but North Face has very warm water proof winter gear.
