The pains in your pelvic area and groin are very common late in pregnancy and it could very well be due to the baby's head pressing down. This does not mean you are about to go into labor, just that your body and baby are getting ready.

There's always a chance you could go into labor before induction, and if that's the case, great!

To relieve the pain and discomfort, you might have to take breaks frequently when you've been standing or walking, to relieve the pressure for a while.

Pain is normal at this time. Your baby's head is right there pressing on your pelvic area. You may be dialating which is usually a relatively painful process for most women. However, this does not mean you will go into labor right away. I was 3 cent. dilated and 70 percent effaced for 2 weeks with my daughter. Hang in there, that baby is not going to come unless it is ready or you have drugs at the hospital. Home methods to make baby come sooner are not a great idea. You can stick it out... just hang in there and don't do more than your body feels like it can handle. Once those pains become labor pains, believe me, you will KNOW your in labor (and so will everyone else around you)

You've got a 6-9 pound baby making his or her way down the pike and you WOULD be sore in areas you've never been sore before... if you are only 36 weeks, you are probably no where NEAR ready to give birth yet so don't get too excited YET..... that baby will show it'self when it is good and ready... and it won't be a soreness in your private parts that tells you he is ready... Trust me labor is BACK and stomach pain like you've NEVER experienced in your life (unless you've already HAD a baby)... a feeling like you have been "punched" is NOTHING compared to what real labor will feel like...but don't be scared, the epidural will take care of the pain.. I wouldn't go to the hospital UNLESS you are about 5-10 minutes apart with the contractions... anything sooner and you will just be wasting your time.. UNLESS you get complications... will you bleed? yep the first sign I HAD going into labor was blood spotting. I was 12 hours in labor---some women are in labor for longer and some for shorter....

I have a 4year old, and a 2 year old. Both pregnancies were normal. Except for the delivery. With my first, I went walking. Although the pain is hard, walking really worked. Within, 48 hours of walking 1 mile, I went into labor with both. Long steaming hot baths after the walks, help to aleviate the swelling and some pain. Mostly, just wait patiently, the baby will come, and the pain will subcyde. Good Luck!

I am 39 wks and I have not dilated or anything yet! I get pains in that area, all the time... I asked my doctor about it just last Thursday and she said that you have ligaments down there, she also told me it gets worse with the second child, and that there is nothing wrong.

As for trying to induce your self with castor oil, and sex, and everything else out there.... I have tried EVERYTHING. I did a search and found all different ways and tried and nothing has worked! I can't even get dialted here!

Good Luck!

Your only options aren't go to the hospital or wait until your appointment, you can always call your doctor's office and let them decide if you need to be evaluated - and you should do that.

But it sounds to me like you aren't experiencing anything out of the ordinary. It's very common in the last few weeks of pregnancy to have a lot of aches and pains in the vaginal and lower uterine area - some of them very severe at times, especially when you are standing and all that weight is pressing downwards.

Good luck!

If you are in pain it may be a good idea to let your doctor's office know. They may want you to come in sooner for an exam.

As far as inducing labor. I've heard all of the classics, but the one my friends swear by is massage. There are nerves on the back of your calves, bottom of your feet and the webs in between your thumb and pointer that apparently can induce labor. I go to a massage therapist who specializes in pregnancy massage and she confirmed this. It may be worth scheduling yourself for one.
