I feel very comfortable with my bosses and the guy who is training me, but today I had to fill out some paperwork at a table around a bunch of new people I really haven't had a lot fo contact with. I got really nervous, my heart was pounding and my face was almost paralyzed by fear when they were focusing on me and asking questions. It was horrible and I think I gave off a very bad impression. I hope I'm able to get comfortable around them. It was an aweful feeling! I just hope they don't think I'm a crazy person now and start talking behind my back. uhhhhh

You should try to believe that the way you perceived the situation is almost certainly very different to how others around you saw it.

The people around you may not have even noticed that you were uncomfortable. And if they did, will have probably forgotten all about it by the next time you see them.

The only way to move forward is accept this slight hurdle and move on. As you become more familiar with the job and the workplace environment, ther'll be less chance of you feeling anxious.

A very good book to read on overcoming social anxiety is this one... http://www.amazon.com/Overcoming-Social-Anxiety-Shyness-Behavioral/dp/0814798748/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-7968926-0895129?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1193779477&sr=8-1

Take it steady and good luck with the new job.

If this was your first panic attack hopefully it will never happen again but if it does you should see a doc right away. Without treatment it can hold back your career and may even cause you to lose your job. If you work at a place with a lot of employees the chances are somebody else there is on meds for this same thing. When I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder I only then started asking around and found out I wasn't the only one in my own department that had that problem. You may be suprised by how many have your same problems if they would just admit it. My own boss was having the same problems and I had no clue he was on medication.

What you experienced was perfectly normal for someone starting a new job and being put on the spot in front of people you did not know. You were possibly having an anxiety attack but it sounds like you worked throught it. Don't talk yourself into believing that people will now talk behind your back, just go right up to people and introduce yourself.

I'm sorry that happened to you! Don't worry, they probably didn't realize you were that uncomfortable. The good thing is that you already have the job and this wasn't an interview situation.
