The subject of gays being born or it being choice has been beaten to death. On that there are scientific facts. And the ones that refute those facts will not change their views.
But about a year ago, I read something about created homosexuality. Don't weigh my statistics too heavily as I am almost certain they are inacurate. But it seems that when the male to female population ratio exceedes something like 108 to 100, they create gays. A simple matter of not having enough women to go around. And it gets worse as the ratio rises. Okay, a few examples here are some of the African nations as well as India. There are higher numbers of gays in those countries. If there is a war, male birth rates rise to make up for the losses. If the ratio rises enough, more gays. Actually, the artical was in regard to roving gangs and terrorists as a result of the same male to female ratios. The things about gays was tied with it. A whole new thing to consider. Something new to consider?

Good point on the higher number of women than men. There have been studies on that as well. No, it does not seem to create gay women. Instead it most often makes laws and such change to creat pologamy. As to the study on the homo sexual problem, remember the study was really about roving gangs and terrorist guerillas. The study was done by a UN group. So the information source should be pretty credible. As to the person mentioning prison homosexuality. You make a very good point. I think that is very obvious. Virtually a 100 to 0 sex ratio. As for the countries I mentioned, there are many others as well. And the article did cite the sex ratio in China as well. The government there blocked the UN group. But, it was mentioned the policies there would mos tlikely have a similar outcome. Think what you will. Study for yourself. Just that I use other sources besides such as the Bible.

Remember the study was not about homosexuality. It was about roving gangs, guerilla warfare and its causes. The male to female ratio was very much the cause and it was determined that not having available women caused a frustration leading to thiose activities. The homosexuality tie in was a discovery in the research. I did not mean to pick on Inda. For geographic reasons mostly, I named it. Sri Lanka was worse, but thought many might not be familiar with that country. As to the African nations, I can't really recall. But if there is a civil war or roving terrorists you might consider it could very well have one of these high ration. A 140 to 100 was even cited, though I do not recall where.

The prison population is the best example. Homosexual activity increases the longer the sentence and the greater the isolation from the opposite sex. But this is homosexual behavior, not homosexuality. When released back into the world, ex-cons generally go back to heterosexual sex (providing that they were heterosexual in the first place).

Homosexuality is an actual preference for the same sex, and a lack of desire for the opposite sex. What happens in a heavily or exclusively same-sex environment is simply a matter of availability coupled with an innate sex drive.

I don't know how you can establish that the number of gays is higher or lower in countries like India, since the topic is taboo, so there is no way of knowing statistically what the proportion of gays is or even what percentage simply engage in homosexual acts. The same for Islamic countries where the ratio of men to women may be 50-50, but the majority of women are simply unavailable to the men. Homosexual activity may be common, but even how common is indeterminable due to harsh laws, let alone what percentage are truly homosexual.

The ongoing confusion over the difference between homosexual acts and homosexuality make such studies valueless, I think.

It's certainly a possibility, but would it create the opposite effect using the ratio gay women and men?

I mean, if the ratio of boys being born to girls rose in favor of more guys, would there be less lesbians born because of it? Or were you just speculating what possibly caused it to began a long time ago?

Either way, it's something to ponder at the very least. I'd have to see more information and surveys done in order to speculate any further.

Behavior and sexual orientation are not always the same thing. Many gay men are or were married to women, remained married for years and had children. That does not make them straight.

Many straight men turn to same sex relationships out of loneliness, desperation or other factors (like prison). That does not make them gay.

So if you are saying homosexual behavior can be 'created' in someone under the right circumstances, the answer is yes, of course. If you are saying that that homosexual orientation (those whose natural sexual drive is for people of their same sex) can be created where it does not exist, the answer is no.

I don't think it holds water, it would assume sentient thought by a collective conscious. Nope, sorry. I'm not buying into that one. WAY too Sci-Fi for me.

I'll stick to genetic anomalies myself. (Natural, normal and harmless.)

Interesting theory, especially when you consider that places like China actually kill newborn baby girls because they prize male children so much. However, I wouldn't put much stock in it.
