Dolyn, any dog breeder will tell you that mixing breeds is bad mainly because it can cause health problems. That just shows you dont know what youre talking about.

Well, listen, I can't hate anyone without them doing something really damaging and bad to me personally. I don't hate you, but I think that you might have some misguided ideas.

First and foremost, your gene pool is NOT racially pure. There is no human gene pool on this earth that is "racially pure." I wonder what you think you mean by that. It seems like you mean keeping white with white, black with black, etc. The problem with that is, you are simply selecting for skin color. The same way a florist selects for color of blossoms, you are talking about genetic selection for skin color.

There are many problems with the theory that "pure skin color" constitutes a "pure gene pool."

There is a wide spectrum of skin colors on this planet, as well as bone structures, hair texture, etc. All of the things that we view as defining a person's "race." But they blend gradually, so where do you draw the lines? It's so arbitrary and pointless to categorize people this way.

Why would you even want to categorize people this way? Phenotypic expression is nothing more than a reflection of the genes your ancestors have passed on to you. It's not tied to your culture, your personality, your behavior, your hopes or dreams or beliefs.

So what are you trying to preserve? An appearance? A culture? Like I said above, culture is not tied to appearance. In the past, when gene pools were more isolated, it was common to see the majority of people in a culture all have a similar phenotypic expression. This is because their gene pools were relatively isolated, but never "pure."

Today, international travel is easy, and we have countries like America where people of all different backgrounds come together. What is our culture? I say American. Most Americans don't know that much about the ancient traditions of their heritage. But they do know American culture. So what am I losing if I marry anyone of any color from American culture? Even if I marry someone from a different culture, that doesn't mean I've soiled my children or can't teach them about both.

But I have changed their phenotypic expression. Well, big deal. Interracial babies are beautiful - they are people like Adriana Lima and Halle Berry. Studies have shown that they have a higher immunity against disease, and a greatly reduced chance of inheriting a recessive mutation. Maybe that is the direction the human population has to go to prevent recessive alleles from becoming too prevalent. When a gene pool is isolated long enough, these recessive diseases become prominent. Diversifying your gene pool can negate them.

So my question to you is, what do you mean by "pure," and why is it so much better than "interracial?"

If you can show me someone with a non diluted blood line it would be the first! Let me just say this no one in pure anything, the world was one big mass and everyone had access to everyone. And also when they traveled to different Countries people mixed races then! So only pure person was Adam and Eve and after that! who knows

I kind of understand what you mean, in a way. Recently, I started working for an Indian tribe and it's important for the federal government to keep tabs on the blood quantum. So now I'm understanding "purity" in a sense. I am starting to understand how there are fewer and fewer full-blooded American Indians as well as other ethnic groups, if that is what you're referring to. I see no problem with that trying to maintain that blood quantum and culture. No one should hate you for that or for that reason. But you shouldn't want to maintain a pure racial pool because you think a particular race is supreme or better than another race. Good luck. 2D

It's biologically stupid to keep ANY gene pool "pure" as you say. It leads to a lack of genetic diversity. We would all be better off if we "mixed" things up a bit. Haven't you ever noticed that mutt dogs are always more healthy than pure breeds? Same concept. So yes, doing something that actually goes against nature simply because of your psychological views of a "pure race" is in many peoples opinion's racist.

I wouldnt worry so much about the purity of your gene pool, if this is truly the way you think then it is going to remain undiluted for a long time
