My friend is not a big fan, but he said that the redsox rockies game was unfair because the redsox got the advantage, my agrument was that the rockies got that same advantage?

so should the mlb throw away ANOTHER tradition, and make each game at a different neutral park?

MY FRIEND NOT ME

While I do not like the current set up of the All Star game determining home field advantage, the idea of playing the games at a neutral park is horrible for many reasons. The fans in those cities deserve to see their teams play at home. As a Cubs fan, I would hate to see the Cubs make the World Series and then end up playing in San Diego or Miami or LA simply because they have a warmer climate. I think that as long as we continue to have the ridiculous interleague games every year, perhaps the team's records in those interleague games should determine home field. Or, on a more radical note, perhaps neither team should get a home field advantage at all. Perhaps you play 1 game at a neutral site. Perhaps this year they could have played games 1 and 2 in Fenway, played game 3 at a neutral site, 4, 5, and 6 in Colorado, and 7 back at Fenway. With some creative scheduling, this could be done with maybe only one travel day (maybe you actually play game 2 during the day to allow teams to fly out that night to the neutral site) This might be an opportunity for cities to bid for that game 3 in the same way that they bid for a Super Bowl, etc. or perhaps you simply rotate it so that over 30 years, each stadium will have played host to a World Series game.
The other deciding factor in not having a "neutral" site is the fact that you would want to plan that well ahead of time. But what do you do if they choose Dodger Stadium and the Dodgers win the National League Pennant? Do you then move the whole thing somewhere else? Or do you wait until the first of September to choose where to go?
Too many problems in any system of a so called neutral park.

No Way, Neutral fields rot...... so, It snows during the World Series. I belive thats cold home Field Advantage. It also rewards the teams fans for their support during the season.

Just How did the Redsox get an advantage. It has been the same format for years and Years....

Imagine the Redsox Playing in the World Series against the Braves. But hey You got to play in Arizona. That would be NOT exciting, and a shade below boring, since no one out there cares about the Sox, and Braves.

I think that MLB should have the World Series like the NFL has the Super Bowl. Every year they should pick a park that the World Series will be played in. That simple. They should stop having the All-Star game decide home field advantage in the World Series. That was one of the dumbest decisions in baseball history. Bud Selig is a complete and total idiot. He has no idea what he's doing. Anyway, that decision by Selig to have the All-Star game decide home field advantage gives the National League a huge disadvantage. The National League last won an All-Star game about a decade ago. It's not fair to the National League teams. They should definitely have another option if they don't do this one.

I think the first game should be at a neutral stadium/park/field and then alternate the remaining six between the teams with the "home" team getting to pick whether to play the 2-4-6 at home or the 3-5-7 at home...
I think that would be cool and more than fair...

Well, first of all, that is a bad example because the Rockies most definitely wre not on par with any of the AL playoff teams. The NL is inferior. It's just a fact. I mean, the Diamondbacks in the NLCS? They hit .250! But no, they should not get rid of the homefield advantage. One, because the fans would have to fly all over the friggin place, and two, because that's part of the game. It always has been. In every game, too, excluding the Super Bowl.

Yet another person that wants to turn baseball into football.

For reasons good or bad, they have the all star game determining home field advantage. There is NO home field advantage in any game at a neutral locatoin.

Also, why would the fans of a 3rd team more deserving to seeing the world series over the city and fans of the participating teams.

The NFL solution is dumb as many teams will never get games.

Terrible, terrible idea. Neutral park? Fans who went to every game would have to travel far away to see them in the WS? Would local people have any interest? Makes no sense at all. I would say that deciding the home-field advantage in the All-Star Game is a poor idea though. Just give it to the team with the best record, like other sports do.

No - part of the game is home field advantage. It's awesome for fans to be able to have a world series in their town in their park - and in any event both teams always get some play time at their home field so it's fair. If a team wants to win they have to play good baseball - if they don't they'll lose whether they are home or not.

no thats the most craziest thing Ive ever heard! They should do away with that stupid All-Star game home field advantage rule. I could not imagine them playing a 7 game series in Hawaii or Spain! If they did this & my team made it to the W.S. I would stop watching baseball. But my team is the Phillies so they will probably never make it.

absolutely not. I would be extremely against that. I would not care if there was three feet of snow on the ground. If the Indians - when they get back in again - I want games right here in Cleveland. I do not care if they have to plow snow before innings. Play and the fans will come. I know I would. How do you not play for the hometown fans? I do not like that about the Super Bowl. Only certain cities get the Super Bowl and I do not like that at all.
