While I personally do not think that Precious Barf is gender biased, a more realistic owl may just be the thing. You may want to avoid owls completely. I have the same thing with cats. People buy me all kinds of crap, and expect me to love it because it has a cat on it. Trust me, there is a difference. I ended up carrying a but-ugly umbrella for years because my brother's wife bought it for me and had engraved my name on it. Thank God it finally ripped. Alternatively, my b/f got me an Emily the Strange black cat umbrella that I love.

You should go out to the mall or somewhere with the person and turn on your internal tape recorder. Pay attention to what they say they want/like. I do this throughout the year, and seem to always amaze my family/friends by getting what they wanted even though it hasn't been mentioned since February.

The old saying "It's the thought that counts" is true. Getting him something just because it is an owl doesn't show much thought at all.

Depends on how close of a relationship you guys have. It's a very personal gift. If he's just a regular friend, It may freak him out. It's an ok gift for a bestfriend/boyfriend, i think...
But I think an owl stuffed toy is the safest present...

Most guys aren't really into figurines. A painting or print of an owl might be better. Everyone hangs pictures up in their house.

Its sweet but precious moments had women in mind for the most part.

I am sorry but I doubt any heterosexual man would like that. Nothing wrong with the idea but that statue is very effeminate. Maybe get him a cool picture/poster/painting like the one below

Men do not usually like these figurines as well as women do. I cannot say for sure, but there is strong doubt about such a gift.

When most of the macho "Guys" here actually mature, they will admit that it is nice and they would love to get something like that.
Send it to me. I'd display it right out in my living room.

probably not. It's something (if I loved owls so much) I'd be very impressed at the thoughtfulness, but trying not to wince.
