it amkes the sports and the players look bad, and also, why do the pitchers get unearned runs when they make the error? it is so dumb

More than any other sport, baseball is all about stats! Errors are part of the game and should remain as such. If what you say about fewer errors is accurate, the reason would logically be because of better equipment (gloves) and better management of the playing surface of each ball park.
To not include them would be like allowing aluminum bats into the majors. It would be inconceivable how much it would effect the overall stats of the game.
Other than the DH, (of which most people know that I'm vigorously opposed), I believe baseball is so perfect a game that not even the incompetence that runs it nor the cheaters that play it, can take away from that perfection.

Defensive stats are good to have because it adds another dimension for the fans to evaluate players. I agree with you that there is a degree of inconsistency in scoring but not enough to do away with the stats. Just today I looked at Edgar Renteria's defensive stats for the Braves and found that he had only 11 errors and a .977 FPCT this year compared to Carlos Guillen who had 25 errors and a .966 FPCT at shortstop. That information helped me to understand why the Tigers obtained Renteria to play shortstop and will be moving Guillen to first base. As long as we understand that the defensive numbers we look at are nothing more than a guide to a players defensive skills, and not a definitive measurement, I think they should stay.

WHile the score keeping may have changed to allow errors to be called hits I still think that you need errors to be called to preserve the integrity of the records. By changing the way you score a game you would have to change the record books to reflect "ERA'S of scoring"; that would not only go for pitching but also hitting. Today they call many things hits that were an error 30 years ago. I would like to see them start calling a play that is an error an error rather than abolish the error because the score keepers want to call an error a hit.

No, errors have always been part of the game. A player is almost just as valuable playing good defense as playing good offense. Its something players try to improve on from when they are just learning the game until they finish there career.
Also calls have always been disputed from day one not only in baseball but all other sports also. Remember umps are only human and a call is only bad when it goes against the team you are rooting for.
Remember to do away with errors takes away a players overall value too his team. With the age of illegal drugs and incredible offensive numbers isn't it nice to see a stat that drugs can't alter!!!!

of course there should be errors wirhout them then a batter could be given multiple basehits on his records when it was just poor feilding and another thing when a coach is looking at stats and say there are 2 guys who are pretty much even exept for one guy commited 70 errors in one season and i dont think that the coach is ganna want a player with that many errors in a season.

I think so because it keeps track of how good a particular player is at their position. There are some bad calls, but it happens with everyone, there aren't just single players that are singled out, it'll happen to almost everyone so you can't base it on that. And it helps recognize the players that did the best job at their position. I'm sure players like to get recognized for doing outstanding jobs for their season, getting awards like the gold glove award makes them feel good for their hard work all season, and if we didn't keep track of errors, we wouldn't be able to single out the players that are exceptional compared to the ones that are just so-so.

The way things are going now, errors will not be charted since they lower the self esteem of the player charged. How can he feel good about himself when an E-6 is put on the board for 24,000 paying customers to see? I think they should be given a GT(Good Try) and pat them on the back.

Absolutely not! Why change the rules no other sport does.
They could stop starting the games so late for east coast fans though. It would be nice to get a full nights sleep before work like all the west coast people!

Errors are useful as an indication of the defensive quality of a player. I want to know when a player has a tendency to "boot" a play!!!!!

style of I consistently wanted a classification referred to as psychological errors aka Meez and in contrast to primary E's the two offensive and protecting gamers can get them Run via a give up sign and get thrown out ? You get a ME have been given a play ineffective rights at 2nd and you throw the ball living house ? You get a ME
