Im going to say sorry to Jenni in advance, lol.

So, during the off-season SOO many people were talking about the Ducks being soooo good this year, winning their division, and repeating and taking the Stanley Cup once again.

How many of you can tell me you honestly think the Ducks will repeat now?

Wings fan!, yeah im not counting them out, its just that sooo many Ducks fans (bandwagoners) were so hyped that they won the cup, they thought they would deffinantly win it again.

288, ok i agree with that lmao.

Mike, thats a good point, with Selanne and Neidermayer back, they could easily become contenders again.

I wouldn't count them out yet. I would like to, but it's too early to do that....

Me! I do. First, there is ALWAYS a chance that something will happen (yes, there's even a chance the Leafs will win the Cup).

Second, they still have a pretty good team. Selanne and Niedermayer haven't said they are retiring yet, so they might still come back, if either Selanne or Niedermayer come back, they will have a shot to repeat. I wouldn't ever count them out with Giguere in goal. If both Selanne and Niedermayer come back, then they will really have a shot.

I've always said the first 20 games of the season are practice. (I've never actually said that here, but I do say it a lot.)

Yes, Selanne and Niedermayer are very important. Selanne had 46 goals last year, that's almost 19% of the whole team's goal total. And it's hard to show Niedermayer's contribution last year in stats. Although 69 pts. isn't too shabby.

First, it's too early. Teams have turned it around before. Second, defending champs are always the favorites unless the team gets gutted by free agency. Third, it is so much harder to repeat than it once was because of the free agency and cap situations. Make fun of the Ducks and their fans all you want but I don't think we'll have a realistic picture of what's what until the wee break at Christmas.
If you look at things right now Sens are it. No one else is close but injuries and trades change things.
We can talk right now BUT when all is said and done no one but a die-hard fan has any team written in as a sure thing to win right now.

In this age of the current NHL, I think it is almost impossible for any team to repeat. So to the question - no!
However things may have been a little different if the beginning of the year schedule may have been a little different. I can't understand why anybody would have agreed to do that as a regular season game.
Thanks again to Gary the Dwarf.

Well if they have to play w/out Getzlaf, Bertuzzi, Schnieder, and Niedermayer (Rob), get only limited games from Giguere and Pahlsson, and Selanne and Nidermayer (Scott) don't come back - you can count them out for sure... That's what they've faced to date.

However, if Selanne and/or Niedermayer come back and the worst of their injuries are behind them... they will be the cup favorites again.

Detroit struggled out of the gate last year with a similar situation (injuries).

For myself, it is a little too early to be writing off any team. If they don't have something going by the All Star game, then I can say whether they are in it or out of it. It's usually around game #65 that I begin to weigh all the teams chances for winning the Cup.

Even if Selanne and Niedermeyer returned, I would not expect them to repeat. The other teams in the West have gotten better. I think they will still be a strong team this year, regardless of whether the duo returns.

No i dont think they will repeat. Lok at caralina after they won the cup, they had a shitty season. Now caralina might have a chance.
So maybe in a couple years the Ducks will be contenders again.(or maybe the team cought a bug over seas?)

I say the sens will be back for sure. In the West I don't see the Ducks repeating. I think Red wings will be there. Sens in 6.

And no I'm not a bandwagon jumper. I've been a Senators fan since they came back into the N.H.L.

I wouldn't count them out... I think if they do repeat, it will be from a lower seed (they won't be getting 110 pts and leading their division), but so long as they qualify for the playoffs and get their act together by then... It could happen.

No need to say you're sorry.

I don't think we'll repeat. I think once they're all healthy they could have a good season.
