They make decisions made from desperations, and begin to drown in a self-induced confusion (yes, Godsmack lyrics, but they apply here).

It becomes an obsession, or a compulsion...

What happens after that depends on whether or not the person has a safe outlet for that obsession/compulsion.

I got lucky and found one on this internet. So now my obsession is (more or less) just a silly, harmless part of my imagination and/or inner fantasy life. The stuff of daydreams and the like.

Without a safe outlet though, yeah, the frustration becomes a problem. Things can fester into some serious anger if not outright hatred (of people or circumstances that frustrate the desire).

Hope this helps. Have a star! ^_^

Obscession, depression, compultion. Sometimes action driven by thoughtless need.

When we can't have something that we really, really want we take that as a sign that we are unworthy. Our sense of worthlessness increases with the intensity of how we want it. If left to fester, it consumes our world, tries to convince us that we have no value without it. If we allow ourselves to become more obsessed then it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy as we squander more and more of what gives us true value in pursuit of that one thing.

Better to let it go, quickly and early, before you become too attached. It hurts less that way.

Well if you do not value your self worth it will tear away slowly from you little by little until you reach a very dark point in your life and I can tell you in the end its not worth it no other person is ver worth this you are more important and you are fine just the way you are!!!! Its ok to be alone too :))))Value is key to our being and worthiness always :))))

You will be in eternal hell I think when you want a person place or thing that you can never have its so sad and tragic :((((

The best thing for that is for them to distance themselves. Take some time off/away... When you come back to that something/someone you'll find it will be different, not so intense, not so addicting... You can go longer without talking to them and you won't feel as bad about not talking to them every day.

Time and space... Those are the only things that I know will work.

That doesn't make sense. Why, or how could anybody become attached to something (like what?) they couldn't, or never had?

It may drive them in a monomaniacal fashion towards that thing. Some people go on like that all their lives.
Or, as someone else said, lead them into depression. Unless they can accept it, use it a driving force but accept it for what it is.
