I think its ok, when the question is a factual question, like asking the care of a pet, because if someone gives false information, the thumbs down button can be useful in helping the question asker find the best answer, but on questions like this one, theres no need for the thumbs down button

I don't really mind unless I'm the only one with a thumbs down or when someone who thinks they're funny goes along & gives EVERYONE a thumbs-down.

Oh yes, it's dumb, no question about it.
Really, unless you actually go through the hassle to find links and bring some evidence to back you up, it's *all* going to be opinion here anyway. So why be hair trigger about it?
Any more these days, if I see rampant thumbs-downing on a question I start spitting out thumbs-Ups just to compensate. Only place I don't do that with is in Politics, which is rancid with trolls and haters anyway.
Hope this helps....

i think of a great number of that's exceptionally much a character contest. I spoke back a query approximately previous better halves thoughts and have been given 2 thumbs down and Biscuit edited her question to ask a similar element - why out of 20+ solutions grew to become into I the only one getting thumbs down? i in my view think of that performs into it in a huge way after which there are those solutions that are only undeniable dumb after which those the place human beings do unlike being advised the actuality. that's like water rolling off a duck's lower back to me. you will additionally locate that majority regulations, 10 human beings supply comparable solutions that are no longer dazzling after which a million person solutions wisely and all human beings else supplies thumb downs - do no longer are conscious of it myself. I stand at the back of my critiques and the solutions that I supply and am helpful in my information so i do no longer lose any sleep over it. Afterall, I too reserve the dazzling to furnish a thumbs all the way down to a crappy answer.

You are absolutely right & it looks like someone doesn't like your question or any of the answers w/ all the thumbs down.....I think the thumbs down button should go away ......if they didn't want our opinion then why ask it on here......go to a friend at home.......right!?

Maybe not dumb, but it is rude. Everyone does have a right to their own opinion and should have the freedom to express it, even if others don't agree with you.

yes, it is dumb, but what are you going to do? some people on here are so insecure, that they dis everyone they can. others are so (whatever) that they think giving thumbs down is funny. we're a cross section of society on here, and there are idjuts everywhere.
