He tried to get the GOP nomination once but they felt he was weak on defense and crime.

The Religious right and Jesus have so little in common he would never win!
They will not vote for someone who supports equality for ALL in cluding things like making sure all have health care. They certainly would not support a candidate who says give up your wealth to the poor and follow me!
Jesus was too much a 'socialist' for them. If Jesus ran today under another name, he's never get their vote!
Jesus also hated war.

They did in 2000 according to prophets of the GOP( Gods Only Party) Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, John Hage, Tim Haggard, James Dobson and rest of TV preachers we elected Bush as our savior.
