My daughter's doctor is a bit clueless -- we are searching for another at the moment -- and I'm wondering if the stuff she asks is standard (the questions are not the problem; just curious) or not.

She also repeatedly asks me if I have any questions at each well-baby appointment, and I have zero; I'm wondering what questions people do bring to their baby's doctors -- assuming, of course, no problems going on with the baby.

LOL, I've seen your answers to other's posts, and no offense, your question strikes me as funny. Of course your pediatrician seems clueless since I'm willing to bet you have probably educated yourself on every aspect of your child's development and understand the particulars of your own child better than any doctor would. You yourself do not have any questions for your clueless ped. for the very same reasons.

My only question is why you take your child to the pediatrician at all? Your baby is likely thriving in spite of your doctor's "care" rather than because of it... but I suspect you might know this already:)

i ask what to expect in the next few months (just in case there is something i havent remembered) and i ask about what she is looking at during the physical. i have an extensive background in child dev, so most of my questions are related to specifics, not the global dev milestones, etc.

she asks me how i am doing, if i have any problems, how sleeping and eating are going.

I love our dr...she is kinda flighty personally, but is very friendly and great at giving answers to any issues (like when my little girl would scream and cry every time i tried to nurse her...turns out she has reflux and is a non-spitter, which was new to me...she prescribed zantac and now we are both happy and nursing is easier without a screaming baby!!)

My pedi asks how much/how often he eats, wet and poopy diapers, and how long he sleeps for. If he's sleeping through the night, etc. My son just had his 6 month appt so he asked how he is with sitting up, rolling over, babbling, if he pushes up on his hands.
I keep a notebook by my son's changing table and write down anything I'm concerned with or have a question about in between appts. For instance, at this most recent appt I asked about starting solids and how much to give. I also ask him to check his head for any flat spots. I asked if it was necessary to give him any water and if he needs vitamin supplements. I asked about possible blocked tear ducts b/c when he cries he has no tears.
Hope this helps.

My doctor normally asks about how much my baby eats, how much she pees and poops, what she is doing socially and developmentally.

I don't usually ask questions either because the doctors usually tells me if she okay or not based on the questions that I answer---He's pretty thorough.

Some people are afraid to ask their doctor's questions even if it seems silly. I always ask questions so my daughter's pediatrician never has to ask me if I have any questions. My questions varied from how to help her eczema to introducing solids etc. What questions does she asks? My daughter's pediatrician is a quiet man but very respectful and always helps us.

i love my sons doctor ! she was always up on the breast feeding thing (which was great) but she didn't really agree with co-sleeping (which i did) but the thing you have to remember is there is usually not a right or wrong answer when it comes to how to parent, so you can take or leave your dr's advice.... i think typical questions would be...when to start solids, how much to feed, maybe questions on colic ?
