If she's truly constipated, nurse her more. Your milk has a natural laxative that makes it easy for babies to go.

You said she's still going every day. What do her poops look like? Are they hard? Like pellets? Or are they soft or liquidy still? Constipation in babies doesn't have to do with straining, it has to do with the consistency--if it's hard, she's constipated, if it's soft, she's not.

If she truly is constipated, make sure you're nursing her before you feed her solids and that her primary nutrition still comes from your milk. This will fix almost every "constipation" problem.

She should still be on rice cereal and just some fruits and veggies at this point. Try not giving her too many bananas or applesauce which can cause constipation. Give her some prune juice or pureed prunes. Maybe you gave her too much solids too quickly and her digestive system wasn't quite ready for it. Talk to the pediatrician.

Cooled boiled water will do the trick. My daughter was heavily constipated from the moment she was born and we gave her about 20-30 mls of water a day and she is fine now. Prunes work well too though...

Make sure she is drinking enough. My little boy had the same problem and it was because he wasn't drinking, but he's always been prone to constipation or the runs even though he's nearly a teenager.
If it doesn't clear up take her to your doctor. Don't leave it too long, just a day or two.

My daughter had consitpation at 6 months and I was told not to give her any more bananas, it worked!
Bananas can cause constipation and it is a popular food for babies!
I suggest you could also give her a mushed up weetabix with warm milk, lots of fibre!

I was told to increase water, & the watered down apple juice is good advice. No bananas. And no fibre! Apparently too much fibre in a babies' diet leads to insufficient absorption of vital vitamins and minerals. Look into it!

It sounds like she's just starting to adjust to the food. I wouldn't give her anything. Just massage her belly when she seems constipated or push her legs up like you're changing her. It'll help ease any discomfort and ease it out.
