What I mean is 2 different shapes that when drawn on a grid, take up the same amount of squares.

Squares (2 x 2) and rectangles (4 by 1)

Square ( 2 by 2) and Triangle base 4 and height 2

Assuming that you mean magnitude of dimensions, then the answer would be that a rectangle could have the same dimensions as a square, but not necessarily the other way around.

a triangle and a circle, they are both 2 dimensional (a pyramid and a sphere would be 3 dimensional). don't ask me for dimension 4+ ;-)
