Any tablet that is compatible with your software will do. Some will tell you that a larger one is better, but I have been satisfied, for many years with my four inch by five inch Wacom Pen Partner. At the time of purchase, it was under $100 dollars.

I am told that there are some brands and models even cheaper.

It is not the tablet that creates the anime and manga style. It is the artist who uses the tool. The whole point of the tablets is that they are supposed to mimic the traditional tools of illustration, such as pen, pencil, brush, etc.

wacom bamboo or bamboo fun is perfect for someone who likes to draw manga as hobby. It's not pricy but also better quality that other pen tablets in same price range. If you are into Manga you might need Manga Studio software because its specialized for comics than Gimp or photoshop. I have seen many manga Atists use Wacom Bamboo around Mangaraiders forum So i don't think you can go wrong with it. Take your time and find the best price for it. Also make sure about their warranty and return policy because there can be defects and you ll need to return these and take another. There are no cons.

I really like the WACOM Intuos tablet, but they are VERY expensive. Probably your best bet for finding a graphics tablet would be to search eBay for a deal. Unfortunately, with only $100, your choices will be very limited. I don't know exactly why you can't wait and save up for more, but eBay is the only way you're going to find a graphics tablet for so cheap.
