That's more trouble then its worth and would cost to much.Would be cheaper just to buy a 2 wheel drive then to pay some one to tear apart the 4x4 system.By the way whats wrong with it being 4x4 it doesn't use anymore gas then a 2 wheel drive unless its a full time transfer case plus its nice to have in a snow storm.I know on my Chevy truck its got the part time NP 241 transfer case so when its not in 4 wheel drive its just the same as a 2 wheel drive and gets around 16-18 mph on the highway.

not knowing what year your talking about it is hard to say, but pulling the front drive-line out front diff and axles would probably be enough to make it a 2 wheeler, but you would still be stuck with the transfer-case. on most the early Tahoe's the frames are not the same between the two, so you just cant bolt on parts but on the late models they all used the same frame. either way it is alot of work depending on how far you want to go. meaning if you want to swap transmissions or not and that would be the only way you would really be getting the fuel mileage of a 2wd. I hope that helps

That is a really stupid idea... a 4 wheel drive is ALWAYS preferable to a 2 wheel drive vehicle.

Sell it and buy a 2wd model. Its pointless in paying for a 4WD model and then converting it to 2WD.
