For all you Patriot haters, be careful what you wish for..... Jack Tatum died long before Darryl Stingley and diabetes paralyzed him to the point where he couldn't move his limbs.

I remember reading something -- probably one of John Madden's books -- where Madden's family befriended and put up Stingley's wife after Darryl was paralyzed. Madden brought Tatum to Stingley's hospital, but Tatum wouldn't go into Stingley's room.

I also remember an old Sports Illustrated article written by Stingley where he woke up once and found Madden comforting him through his tears. They talked until Madden spotted a loose wire or tube, raced to the nurses station, and screamed at them until they fixed it.

It's nice to see some spark of humanity within the darkest days of the NFL.

By the way, according to Wikipedia, Jack Tatum (b. 11/18/48) is alive and Darryl Stingley (b. 9/18/51) died on 4/5/07.

He was my dad teammate when he was hurt. My father was the Pats strong side linebacker back then. My grandparents have a framed photo of my dad and Mr. Stingley together soon after he was paralyzed. I'm a Pats fan but I feel Jack Tatum was right for the hit and never apologizing for the unfortunate accident. Tatum didn't do anything dirty. It was a clean hit. So why should have Tatum apologized. My father name is Sam Hunt and his number was 50. Tatum died but that doesn't take away from the fact he is the most bad *** tackler in the history of the NFL.

Ummmmmm....

Jack Tatum is not dead.

yea never wish injury on anyone,i dont care if you do hate them on the field. Theres nothing any patriot could do that would deserve them becoming paralyzed.
