I've seen a disturbingly large number of people on here who have declared their intention of voting for "whoever is on the Republican / Democratic ticket" instead of simply voting for the best person for the job regardless of party affiliation. This party line mentality, sadly, explains so much.

Why do you think it is, that so many of our countrymen have ceased doing what is best for the country in favor of doing what is best for the political part of their choice?

"However, politics then and now is about what is best for the person in power or at least those with the most amount of money. Political parties are set up so we can draw a line in the sand and say I can piss farther."

What you, and every person on here is saying is that "its the way its always been." However, the voters are to blame, not the politicians, or past tradition. The complacency I see in Americans today (and I don't give a good god d*mn what it was like 50 years ago, I care about today) is disgusting. Everyone claims to be "Patriotic" yet the amount of effort put forth when push comes to shove - well I think most people put more thought into what shoes to wear than what person to place in the most powerful position in our country. Its disgusts me.

I usually vote for who I think will be the best Candidate for the job. I agree with you on how people vote. Most people are afraid of any change. And jumping parties is a lot like jumping ship. Deserting. That is the way people were taught to look at things.

I think you are confusing the issue. If you look at the ideals of what this country was founded on then you might be correct in assuming that people at one time voted for "whats best for the country." However, politics then and now is about what is best for the person in power or at least those with the most amount of money. Political parties are set up so we can draw a line in the sand and say I can piss farther.

Assume that until we have a unified, good, and unbiased educational process, as well as, people being raised without the belief that one person must be better than another based on any -ism, then we might be able to move away from voting based on popularity and "what my daddy/husband/political party tells me to."

I want to congratulate you for the question, because you brought about real people, people better, way better then many politicians...I'll tell you what...this Country may go down the tubes or any other countries for that matter...the best part is that the people with wisdom far more extraordinary then common knowledge. Common knowledge like many politicians pride themselves in having. And the wisdom that others show with facts and humbleness such as the one shown by Miss Samantha/stickers??? gives me the comfort to know that people like her has an extremely high potential to reach the Pearly Gates and be part of those that can "talk" for those that can't talk and won't be defended for whatever reason. but with a humble need of being defended and helped such as those without voice, like the "illegals" and the poor and the fragile and the old and the unable, etc. etc..aaaaaaaa well!! I like her; Samantha why don't you run for office. you got my vote.

These political parties have been around for 100+ years and in that time they've slowly and surely expanded their power and wealth. Since they control the schools and the media (maybe not control, but there's a reciprocal monetary exchange between the networks and the parties and our tax dollars) they can pretty much frame the debate any way they want.

If anything, the type of thinking you described is LESS common these days thanks to the internet.

It's been that way a long time. My dad is of that mindset. My husband used to be...as was I until not that long ago.
It's the way some people from the "old school" were brought up.
My dad refuses to face the fact that the party he supports is not the party it used to be.

It has always been that way. I remember 40 years ago people were worse about voting for a certain Political party than they are today.

how are you able to in one sentence say something like "we the folk, .... us the voters..... and then assume your government to sparkling up all your issues for you ? sorry, I dont join this way of socialist schedule. Mankind, human undertaking, and so on. are suitable served by using private sector ingenuity, on the heart of that's capitalism. If it have been practicable, and human beings rather valued it, then somebody could make this form of device and human beings could be status in line to purchase it. it fairly is absurd to think of that automakers are in charge, or that they for some deep darkish conspiratorial reasoning are conserving back such technologies and so on. It frightens me much greater as quickly as I see the politicizing of Gore's kook theories and the reality that human beings purchase into such nonsense. definite, the earth is warming, and definite it has went by using cooling cycles and definite we could continually take care of our organic supplies, take care of the atmosphere and so on. The earth is a extensive methane generator, maximum of it escapes into the atmoshphere and is not any longer used by using guy, you could no longer turn the tide of that. The kook leftist worldwide warming nuts are rather guidance us in direction of a international ruled society, that's what's utilizing this nonsense. Sorry, as a baby I grew up in worry of the subsequent ice age, back, pushed by using some politicians and their alledged discovered "scientists". in basic terms, you spot, the subject then replaced into human generated pollutants replaced into heading us in direction of a ice age and that replaced into in basic terms thirty years in the past. Pardon me, yet Jane Fonda sitting on a north vietnamese anti airplane gun offends me as a lot by way of fact the kook left does advertising their mantra of self hate that they have faith all individuals could conspire to. So, while Gore and Streisand et al advert nauseam let us know to attend to, what they actually advise is so you might take care of at the same time as they jet overhead of their gulfstreams. i assume a real environmentalist could could dedicate suicide ( nevertheless in an fairly environmentally sound way), inspite of each thing, they have faith mankind to be the enemy of nature and our planet. all people no longer doing so is in basic terms a poser.

some people aren't political junkies like some of us are, and have nothing to go buy.

its like put a plate of beef in front of someone, to those folks you mentioned, they will go and eat it, cause its there.

some of us would most likely want to know why and where did it come from. lmao (metaphor)
