Obviously, your first hat trick if always a great moment and I remember mine like it was yesterday, but I have to say that wasn't my best moment.
My best moment in hockey was when we were in the playoffs and it was the championship game. In the league I was in they had 72 teams, but in each playoff there were 4 teams. The 4 last place teams in the last place playoff, and it just keeps going like that. We were in the fist place playoffs, which was a big deal at he time. We made it to the championship game, but we were tied 2-2 in the third period. I was playing right wing with my cousin on left. We broke it out and were on a 2 on 1, I was planning on burning by the defense and trying to take it by myslef, because my cousin wasn't really a goal scorer (he hadn't scored once all year) I took it wide and was protecting it good, and might have been able to take it by myslef. But I saw the goalie had commited to my side of the ice. I made a nice pass over to him and he came through with just a quick tap in goal. It was his only goal of the year, and it was the championship winning goal. I was super happy for him, and he got the game puck. Later on that day, he gave me the game puck, but I wanted him to have it. We ended up giving it to the coach.
I felt so great that whole week.

Tough
Mine is an NHL moment.
Stepping on the ice at the Montreal forum in September 1962 for my first ever exhibition game (It was a cool $50/day back then for training camp). It was 2 minutes into the first period and Pilous tapped me on the shoulder and said 'show me what you got'.
I never did touch the puck but I was on the ice with Stan Mikita, Pierre Pilote, Glenn Hall, and 2 other teen-faced rookies named Fred Stanfield and Murray Hall. It was the best 30-40 seconds of my life. Several shifts later, and I was demoted again. 6-7 minutes played, no shots on goal, no penalties.
But to play my first NHL exhibition game in the rink I grew up watching games in was great.

Sorry I am breaking the rules it has nothing to do with when I played but not really an typical NHL moment either.
It was attending Saku Koivu's first game back after his fight with cancer. The atmosphere in the arena was incredible, the ovation he got from the fans and the Sens (visitors that night) was something I will never forget.
It had nothing to do with the game and everything to do with a man who had gotton a second chance at life.

When I pounded the snot out of some kid my age but bigger who was taking runs at me EVERY time he had the puck while I was playing goal. It was a pickup street hockey game. He'd get to the slot, pass the puck back to his teammate and purposely slide into me.
After 5 or 6 times I had enough. I picked myself up, tore off my mask and gloves and went to work on him. Big bully turtled up and I must have landed at least 30 good punches to his face. His girlfriend was there and even his sister was cheering me on. He had a welt the size of a soda can on the left side of his face after I was done.
Then, he starts running away crying.
That was back in 1977 and we haven't talked since.
ADDENDUM: I just remembered an incident a few years before that when we were playing football and his side was losing so bad that he got mad and threw the football at my friend Len and then charged him. Len just flipped him over his shoulder and planted him face first into the mud. Went home crying after that one too.

Being a So. Cal. close by, i ought to admit that the ducks triumphing the Cup changed into highly cool. in spite of the indisputable fact that, the question asks for "unforgettable second." the following is mine. might want to've been about '95-'ninety six or thereabouts. My superb pal from grad college had season tix on the then Pond of Anaheim. The then-"amazing" ducks were ducklings and by no skill so amazing. i'm certain they were playing an both poor crew because my buddy kept his *good* seats for his *actual* hockey fan compadres. in any case, we were sitting on the aisle about 10 rows up with a good view of the objective. i changed into yapping about something, no longer being attentive to the game. My pal says, "you would more advantageous watch the game, or a %.'s going to come back flying over the glass and hit you contained in the precise." I merely chortle at him. those words are nonetheless awesome contained in the air when I listen a crack and ssssshooooom as a %. comes ripping by the air, over the glass. Then comes the most God undesirable sound (a muffled "THUNK") I had ever heard because it smacks the forehead of the guy status immediately throughout the aisle from me, about 6 ft away. His eyes roll up in his head, he wobbles, staggers slightly like he's inebriated, and then he begins bleeding. the area workers were there in a flash. They hustled him upstairs and tucked him to a gurney. on the way up, he's splattering blood everywhere - i can not seem everywhere to my left because the blood on the steps next to me is making me queasy. He changed into ok. I talked about him at next video games with a highly cool searching scar that i'm certain he's taking tremendous delight in sharing with his associates. for sure, I pay more advantageous interest at video games, and that i duck at the same time as the %. is everywhere close by.

I grew up playing hockey and my dad was always an assistant coach even though he could barely skate and never played himself. My favorite moment is him teaching me how to do cross overs when I was around 6 years old.

That would be my oldest sons GWG in the playoffs. He was soooo proud and we were all very excited for him. He's never really been a star on any team but he was that day.

First game my grandfather ever came to see me play I scored two goals on the same shift. Best part was he was right there at that end of the rink, right behind the glass.

Scoring my first high school hockey goal. What made it sweet was that it came in our first playoff game.
