I think it's the other way around. Christians use their so-called faith against the rest of us. They refuse to believe that not all of us share their point of view. They are best at using it as a political weapon by invoking the name of God, implying that if we don't agree with them, we must be evil and godless. "A vote for me is a vote for the Lord. All who disagree are satanic heathens." Get real.

I think there is something lacking in their lives, that makes them jealous of a Christian, because Christians for the most part, seem satisfied with themselves. Like it doesn't matter about all the bad in the world, that God is always there to take care of it, because He's got a plan, that we cannot understand.
Human nature tells us to hurt another when we're jealous of what they have, and we do not have. People do it all the time, but don't recognize it, or would even except it. It makes them angry even more, because their inner-self won't let them, because they're wounded, lacking any foundation for support emotionally. Christians have a network of support with their church, and their fellow Christians, whereas said accuser, has none.

The behavior of many Christians today IS bad. They have backed a warmonger that lied about the reasons for war, seem to want a medeival Crusade through the Middle East which would result in millions of deaths, and have joined religion with politics in a way that shuts out Freedom of Religion and the Separation of Church and State, as the founders advised.
These Freedoms, this Separation, has worked well for us for over 200 years, making us respected throughout the world, highly prosperous and a Super Power.
They constantly harp on Liberals, and make a drug addict like Limbaugh their Guru, acting as though caring about your fellow man is a sin. Read Ann Coulter and you'll understand the hatred they have parleyed into a political movement. They advocate bigotry with their treatment of the Poor and Gays, and say nothing about the looting of our Treasury by their legislative leaders, many of whom have been indicted for corruption.
In my view, this is a distortion of religion, of Jesus' words, and what the meaning of religion truly is. I am a Christian so you can't call me a non-Christian, and I believe it is these Christians that are using Christianity as a weapon. I try to use common sense and compassion, and I don't believe these fanatics are Christians at all.

For most non Christians to TRY to use Christianity as a weapon is like a man with a gun shooting blanks. You get off some really nice shots but you never hit anything.

Amen brother. And I'm a non-Christian too (so please don't lump me in that accusing crowd). I know a lot of Christians, and all of them, all people even, try to be their best for the most part.
Edit: Who gave Moody Red thumbs down? Really now....

Honestly? Because usually christians cannot separate ethics from religion. So the vast majority looks at us as immoral, and going to hell. Plus, it's about once a week that someone tries to "save" me. Also If you ever read the genealogy of morals by Nietzsche you would understand. Oh and most of us are ex-christians so to us it's the worst thing on the planet.

I take it you refer specifically to Christians in politics, including those on this forum.
I am a Christian, and I am appalled at how Christianity has been turned into a political issue...by Christians. The Religious Right has twisted the gospel.
There's no longer the saved and the unsaved.
There's the "Saved" and there's "liberals."
That's according to the gospel of Rush Limbaugh. I'm afraid too many Christians are listening to him instead of reading the word of God.
Christians attack the world by demonizing all political opponents, equating them with the devil.
As Christians, we're going to be under a microscope for the way that we live our lives. That's to be expected, and Jesus also said the world would hate us. Not that "liberals" would hate us, but *the world* would hate us. And we just simply have to learn to deal with that and continue to live our lives for Christ.
And Christians have made politics central to Christianity, basically saying that if you vote against the "Christian way" (Republican over the past 12 years) then you're voting against God. And that means that support for a president who was dishonest about the reasons for war in Iraq, and who continues to do the will of big money interests. Then you turn to religious cable channels, and there's Grant Jeffrey saying that we have to stay in Iraq because biblical prophecy
says so. They twist scriptural prophecy to say that Iraq is a must, when that is totally and completely up for debate, at the very least. They have political motive for saying such things.
They also basically condone (if not promote) absolute hatred toward political figures like Bill and Hillary Clinton. For goodness sake, these 2 met at a Billy Graham convention! I know he made mistakes, but Jerry Falwell said Hillary Clinton running for President is the equivalent of the Devil running.
I know that Jesus **never** said to equate a political opponent with the devil. But Christians tolerate and promote these kind of ideas all the time.
Such putrid and hateful talk is put up with and even accepted in Christian circles, as long as it focuses on the Clintons. During the impeachment circus in 1998, I was in college and I walked into my Christian organization to hear a bunch of my "Christian" friends saying absolutely *horrible* things about the President. If Jesus were to walk in the room that very minute, he would 1) walk back out the door and vomit, and 2) would come back in and berate those people for dragging down His name by their absolutely horrible talk.
But Christians think that kind of thing is okay...as long as it's about the Clintons....'cause they're **bad**!
I don't read that anywhere in my Bible.
Christianity also twists the scripture by taking the Old Testament and saying that it applies to the US today, when it was specifically targeted for Israel in OT days. Paul says in Romans 3:20 that the law was only useful in establishing how unworthy we are: "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin."
2 Chronicles 7:14: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
That's a great verse, but it has **absolutely no relevance** to the US. The "my people" God refers to in that verse are **the Jews of the OT**.
Taking this verse and applying it to the US is like taking the part of Romeo and Juliet where they decided to get married, and saying they lived happily ever after. It's not the whole story.
So, Christianity in politics opens itself up for criticism in a huge way. Jesus was never a political activist. He said "Give to Caesar what is Caesar, and give to God what is God's." (Matthew 22:21). It's fine to be involved in politics, but God has higher purposes for us, because our lives belong to Him.

Because "Christians" tend to be GIANT HYPOCRITES. Jesus preached peace and chased the money lenders from the temple. He preached love thy neighbor and blessed are the meek. To paraphrase Woody Allen, "If Jesus ever came back and saw the things carried out in his name, he'd never stop throwing up".

They have nothing else to use but a persons faith to use against them.
jahpson doesn't care if you are an atheist and that says a lot.
I care if you have a soul and a conscience. Without faith in something, you have nothing.
If you have nothing what do you really care about?
Without faith then where are your values? I have too many concerns about what you will or will not do without faith.
People like Saddam Hussein tortured and killed millions as well as Hitler and his ilk, do you think they had faith?
