Personally, it's really gross in my opinion and I would rather not have eat anything than to eat off of a floor!

Yea, I have to admit to doing that every now and then with dry foods that don't pick up every icky particle around. LOL

Ya think that's gross? HA! Well, let me tell you about my grandmother who's still living in those ''you gotta conserve everything'' times- I'll just share one incident... That'll be enough to make your skin crawl-

Me and hubby were visiting gramma one evening after she invited us over for dinner. Well, she has over 20 cats. NO KIDDING. They have the run of the house. And most of them are long-haired, so there is fur EVERYWHERE. What's more, at the time, there were two who had gotten into the habit of going pee and poo by the kitchen stove. Ok, so gramma would wipe it up- BUT she wasn't sanitizing the area. She would just wipe with a hot, wet paper towel. Eww, right? Well, that's not all... She made burgers, fries, hotdogs, and a few other things. She fried the hot dogs and fries in the same big pan, so it was kick a*s heavy for an old gal like her to lift. She dropped the entire pan on the floor RIGHT IN THE PEE/POO SPOT! NO SH*T! But that's not all... After sending the food diving into the icky spot, she proceeded to pick it up, put it back into the pan, place the pan in the sink, AND RINCE OFF THE FOOD WITH COLD TAP WATER! I'M NOT KIDDING! I told her, "NOOOOOO, THAT IS SOOOOO NASTY! We can NOT eat that." She wouldn't listen and replied by saying, "No, it'll be ok. There isn't much on it." YEA, RIGHT! As if the pee/poo wasn't bad enough, there was cat fur all over it. OH MY! Me and hubby pretended to eat it so as to not hurt her feelings. We threw it out the window while she wasn't looking and covered it with leaves after we left.

Anyone puking yet? LOL

No, no, no- I don't believe any "rule". I was just saying I'm guilty of doing it with the dry foods sometimes. They're obviously not going to pick up some of what wet foods do. I'm not denying the germs. I fully accept/acknowledge my grossness. LOL (Just thought I'd elaborate.)

yeah... five second rule. although my uncle is a biologist, and he told me to never never do that because he has made cultures from samples off the floor, and he said that there is a lot of nasty nasty bacteria on the floor like poop and pee and mold, and really gross things. but i still eat it if it only touched the floor for a second and nothing visible stuck to it. I know that's gross, but i don't want to waste it, and i'm hungry!

No, I do not eat food once it has dropped on the floor. I have 2 cats and don't vacuum every day, so there would probably be some cat hair on it.

Damn, it's unbelievable how many people are actually believing the 5 second rule.
Since when does dirt need a few seconds to stick to anything?
I guess that means when you touch something dirty your hands will stay clean as long as you touch it for less then 5 seconds.
Seriously it's just an urban legend. Don't believe it.

It depends, if its something big and wet (that can collect anything off the floor) I wont eat. But if its like an M&M or something like that...down it goes!!! lol (speaking of insect parts, i found that in this generic oatmeal i bought....*gag)

It depends on what it is, but yeah. If you were aware of the kinds of things that are in your conveniently processed foods you would see that there is not much difference. There are allowable limits of contaminants such as rodent hair and feces, and insect waste and parts inside your processed foods. It is unavoidable. Ignorance can be bliss. It's all in your mind really.

I do most of the time, but it depends where I am when I drop it. In my own house, sure. In somebodys house, I will think twice.I admit I should not do it considering what is on the floor. F.Y.I- The ten sec. rule is a myth(Mythbusters busted it).

No I wouldn't. I have too many people and pets roaming this house! I can't keep my floor clean long enough to be able to something like that!

EEEWWW.
I got almost into strife at work today for throwing away a cooked sausage I dropped. I heard my boss grumbling to a fellow employee, but as I am the same level as her she didn't dare tell me that she wanted it back on the servery.
I am leaving on Friday...
