I would say he is. And the Flames are brilliant signing him, Iginla, and Regehr all to long term deals!

I'm a huge Kiprusoff fan, and I'm also a fan that a strong goaltender who can steal games (and Kiprusoff fits the bill perfectly) is key to a team.

With Kipper and Iggy locked up, and Phaneuf to be locked up after this year, I see this team as a strong contender for a few more years. How they draft and sign free agents will be key as well. Darryl Sutter and Mike Keenan are a smart pair, I look for success.

Deffinantly.

He always starts off the season struggling, so do the Flames all together.

He will pick up his game, and start getting those shutouts...

To the user who said Broduer, Luongo, and Kipper are the top 3 goalies this year, hmm i wouldnt really say so.

Broduer is really struggling, and i think the only way he can pick it up is if New Jersey gets a good enough defenceman to replace Rafalski, gunna be hard though.

Just like Kipper, Luongo is struggling to start the season as well. Luongo wont play as many games this year with their new back-up (his name escapes my mind right now)

The Flames really needed to lock him up, because if he leaves, thats a lot of wasted cap to find a new goalie that can replace his skill.

But yeah, with Iginla, Regehr, and now Kiprusoff signed to long tern deals, the flames should be set.

I beleive that getting a deal signed, was what was getting Kiprusoff disctracted and throwing him off his game. With the new contract done, he should be able to focus on his game, and play like he should.

ADD: "no dirt", Iginla and Regehr both signed 5 year contract extensions during the off-season.

i agree with tyler i would worry they may be another tampa situation. pay out the big three and then have to settle for lower end players. but i do agree he worth every penny, he is great. 5 year 35 mil for iginla 5 year 20 mil for regehr. so average of 17 million per year or a third of the cap on 3players with several ufa coming up next offseason

btw my concern is same here as with about any team though i think if you going to pay high in hockeyit should be for a stand out goalie as they do steal games for you.

Kipper is still considered one of the top goalies in the league and locking him up for 6 more years is a great idea. The figure is pretty close to what Giguere is getting so I think the numbers are in line as well.
Next step is Phaneuf. Flames have to have him locked up asap.

It's hard to argue that he's not worth it, but I'd be a little worried about cap room. Given the prices that were fetched for RFA's last year, that could be money the Flames need at the end of the season. All in all, though, it's probably a safe move for Calgary.

Kipper is in the top three goalies in the league, and he is fantasic. I don't think that the flames can go wrong with a move like that. He is still a pretty young guy and has years left in him.
As for Iginla, I don't think you can go wrong keeping that guy around for the long haul either.

In a realistic sense, no, nobody is worth that much. In a hockey world sense, yes he is a good goalie and he had a good run back in 04, but has he stole a series for the Flames since then?

have you been watching

he had a rough last season, but he is easily top 3

it is brodeur luongo and kippursoff

after that it drops off

not only are these three dominate, but they play every game (they rest but every possible game) whereas someone like giguere is great, but he is not an every night guy and he got 6mil

yes, because once you lock up a great goaltender, your team just needs to score to win games, also it would be better if they didn't play colorado. calgary always seems to start of slow and then gather momentum maybe they want to trade for theodore? lol
