Thanks for being part of the problem, Hannah. If you didn't have time to watch the clip, you didn't have time to answer my question.

Absolutely! No Child Left Behind is atrocious! In our family we have always supplemented education with a more diverse and less limited experiences. We teach the children critical thinking. When I 1st put my children in public school I was reprimanded for teaching them too much. They were actually upset that my 4 yr.old son could write his name and had very basic reading skills.
I agree with every sentence Carlin spoke. For those paying attention there has been a gradual dumbing down of Americans. Don't allow it to happen. And please don't participate in it. Help our children to be the best and the brightest.

Yes, I definately agree, and I've known about this for a long time.

" There is a campaign under way to essentially destroy the public education system along with every aspect of human life and attitudes and thought that involve social solidarity. It's being done in all sorts of ways. One is simply by underfunding. So, if you can make the public schools really rotten, people will look for an alternative. Any service that's going to be privatized, the first thing you do is make it malfunction so people can say, " We want to get rid of it. It's not running. Let's give it to Lockheed."

Basically he says that we are all owned by the corporations and that our kids will never be smart because they control what we learn. I like George Carlin, but this is a very cynical view of how the world works. Corporations don't own everything and do you really think they control our schools, judges, politicians, etc?

You get out of education what you put into it. If you don't try, you don't get crap out of it because your too worried about what your hair looks like or what designer outfit you want to own. If you put forth the effort and have great ideas and have some charisma, you get to the top.

Take a look at what Bill Gates did. He was this little mousey smart guy that probably could not get a date in high school. He took and idea, worked hard, had great partners, and built an empire out of it. Man I would like to have just 1% of what he owns.

Unfortunately I agree w/George on alot of what he says. V.P. Chaney owns or part owns a major corp. that was working in Iraq. This morning on the news here in Boston said 10% of h.s. seniors have dropped out.Every politition uses education and crime and this year health care just came on board.Without a dought in my opinion corperate america definatly has an impact on decisions made by our government officials.I'm 37 and I know I'll never see social security.

George Carlin used to be funny. Time, the heart attacks and the years of alcohol and cocaine abuse have taken their toll.

He doesn't give many interviews. He's afraid of being asked a question about how he reconciles the fact that he made most of his money early on representing companies like AT&T.
They cancelled his ad campaign because he was an unreliable participant and now he's bitter. Imagine that, a bitter comedian with an agenda/.

I think that he is crass and his points disrespect all positions. I believe that the Republican Party has the platform that does try to help children and all Americans, while protecting our country.

Please learn about all of the candidates before you vote in 2008. And do vote!

He made an interesting point that I didn't really consider before. I suppose it is a possibility. But for the most part I think that most Americans are just stupid and don't care --- our culture turns kids into this.

HA! I love him. Not only is he a funny guy, but he's smart too. I think he has a very valid point. Illegal immigration is a perfect example of the gov't not caring about us.

i love that clip....
i agree completely...

the corporations own the people through debt
the government through politicians
and the media through buddies like rupert murdoch

and we work for them paying us as little as they can

then turn around and charge us as much as possible for the products for their investors to make money off our backs....
