If the router is new, the best thing to do is call customer service at Linksys, they are GREAT and will help get all the settings right and even set up your network security. That will be best, since at YA! it is hard to check your settings with you to make sure they are all correct, and even the slightest thing can make the connection not work. It's also the fastest way.
If the router isn't new, then it may not be covered under free technical support. Then, we need to know what is happening when you turn on the computer. Is it recognizing the connection at all? When you open up Network Connections, do you get an option for a wireless connection, but can't connect to the internet? Often, if setting started out right, you can just connect. If not, then we need a starting point to troubleshoot from.

If your talking about the WRT300N Wireless-N Broadband Router, I would say its worth having some come out and set it up for you. If has the firewall feature and if your not really use to using or managing a firewall it can be a real pain. plus you can ask then questions and have them show you where everything is as far a setting and features.

Hi. The Linksys Adviser software should guide you through pretty simply, but you need a wireless router, a PC to connect it to, a modem if you want to run through a home cable or FiOS, and a wireless card or PC slot card in your laptop.

If you are not computer wise, my recommendation is to have someone from Circuit City, or Best Buy set it up for you. The instruction book with the router is usually vague, and the success rate for success is low, unless like I said before you are knowledgeable about computers.
