I would admit my mistake and apologize immediately, both to the ProMcCanns on this board and to the McCanns via my blog.
Let me turn the question around on you.
If you found out Kate McCann in fact accidentally killed poor Madeleine and that she and her family have been deceiving the world about it the entire time to avoid international disgrace and murder or manslaughter charges, would you admit you are mistaken and apologize to us? Somehow, I doubt it.

I'm sure some will admit that they were wrong, but not many.
Even if Madeleine were found alive, there would still be some who would say that the McCanns orchestrated the whole thing to make money. Some people hate them so much for being themselves, their demeanour and what they stand for and will never believe that they have been punished enough for leaving their children that night. Sad but true.
And if I am wrong, I will apologise unreservedly for sticking up for them, but I won't apologise for believing that people should receive a fair trial (not by media based on speculation and innuendo, but before a judge and jury based on evidence) , that they should be presumed innocent until PROVEN guilty.

YES i would sincerely apologise if it turns out that the McCann's had nothing to do with Maddies actual disappearance....infact that would be wonderful as i don't believe any of us really want to be believe that a parent could be responsible !
However whether the pro's like it or not, and whether they choose to bury their heads with regards to the issues of neglect is entirely up to them..BUT i certainly would never apologise for that accusation..as it is indeed still the ONLY absolute fact that exists in this case as we speak.....that the McCann's did infact leave their very young children alone, unattended in a foreign apartment while they went out to dinner and quiz games......which in turn must have contributed to the abduction of Maddie regardless of who is the real perpetrator......and they have to live with it, and accept that as fact !
Its OK you saying answer the question without reverting back to the accusations of neglect...but unfortunately that issue is the biggest contributory fact to this case..like it or not!

I haven't made any definitive (serious) statement about her fate.
The situation, it's handling, past cases and the ammount of time lapsed since she was last seen all suggest she is unlikely to be found alive. If she is, I would be surprised, but happy to say the books got it wrong this time.
Suspicion falls on the parents for the same reasons, but is also compounded by their actions. I would not feel I had been wrong in suspecting them of playing a greater role in the disappearance than just neglect and would still think that their actions made it more difficult to find Madeline after the event.
I joke about the McCanns because they self selct themselves through their behaviour and because humour is a legitimate way of dealing with tragedy - as with other stressors.
I would not be so arrogant to claim 100% certainty of what has happened to Madeline unless I was the individual responsible.
I think you'd get about the same response from the "pro" brigade if it turned out the parents were guilty as you would from the "anti" brigade if she comes back safe. A few will hold their hands up, many will continue to bang the drum claiming the other lot rigged it all as a scam and the rest will just find something else to kick up a hue and cry about.... Has anybody mentioned immigrants recently...?

I would admit it. I have never resorted to insulting anyone here. If they disagree with me they disagree and there is nothing I can do. I respect everyones opinions and don't think anyone deserves to be abused just for standing up for what they believe. I am never afraid to say I am wrong about anything and I have said in similar questions I would be the first to say, sorry I was wrong if Maddie was found and the parents were cleared of any wrong doing or cover ups.

It is almost certain that she is the victim of an abduction but it does not change the fact that you do not leave children alone and go out to eat whatever the situation. It takes seconds for children to get into trouble. 20 minute check ups are quite inadequate.

I can understand how her parents are feeling, but i dont understand why the friend of Kate McCann that saw Madeleine didnt go out to see her or try to get her in some way? You see all the time on the news about people seeing madeleine but they never actually try to go up to her or see if it is actually her... if i saw her, i would try to talk to her and distract who ever has abducted her!!!

If she is a victim of abduction, people will feel bad that the Mccanns have been hit so hard by the press. Unfortuantly many peopel will have a problem about not being rude. This is just life itself. Peace :-)

I think a lot of people would be disappointed because they want the McCanns to be guilty - which I have never believed. What is most astonishing of this whole affair is the neglect of duty of the Portugese police who have bungled the enquiry from day 1.
