I've noticed a couple of things. Lately there has been no Thanksgiving in the stores. What I mean by that is that it goes form Halloween stright to Christmas. And it seems all Thanksgiving is anymore is us getting together eating food, the men watch the food while the women clean up and then everyone leaves as soon as they can. Now I'm noticing that people aren't even calling Thanksgiving thanksgiving anymore there calling it turkey day. Does this prove my piont taht were a bunch of spoiled brats and aren't thankful for anything? Also do you need to know the orgigin if Thanksgiving to really apreated it. And is this hallady really all about food. Just like Christmas is all about getting presents? Jsut tell me what you think.

Isn't that a shame that things have become so commercial? Aside from buying a turkey for the holiday there really is no reason for consumers to spend lots of money like there is for Christmas. It has simply come down to money and that's why, I think, not much attention is paid to Thanksgiving in the stores. We have become spoiled, we've gotten so far away from the origin of meaningful things. What can we do about it? Well, for me and my family, as hard as it is sometimes, we remind each other on Thanksgiving what we're grateful for. But you are right, for the most part Thanksgiving has come down to being nothing more than a day to eat a lot, congregate with family and friends for a while and then go home.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head. Christmas is so commercialized now that it drowns out Thanksgiving. Hell we can't even say Merry Christmas anymore or we'll be sued for discrimination. People have forgotten about Thanksgiving and it's meaning because there is so much pressure for Christmas. Remember when the Christmas season didn't "start" until the day after Thanksgiving? As a society, we don't celebrate all our holidays anymore.

Any holiday that is considered a Christian holiday is changed to make it generic and to remove Christ or any mention of a Christian God.

But any other religion in our society that is not Christian celebrates their holdays and if we even mention them as Christians, we are accused of persecution.
