I agree with Katydid.
I've noticed that minority groups seem to get hit with this concept of "racial representation" yet white folks never do. If a black man does a criminal act, all of a sudden many white people nod their heads and go um-hm, those black people are criminals. But the Unabomber and the serial murderers and McVey--all white--are just seen as criminal individuals, not representative of the entire white majority.
And they always bring up Sharpton and Jackson. What makes them think I agree with those guys or that they represent me in any way? Maybe I feel Barack Obama or Michael Eric Dyson or Cornell West or Oprah Winfrey represents me! Maybe Mos' Def and Denzel Washington represent me! I don't know, but I sure do have a ton of people to choose from other than Al and Jesse.

No. An entire race of people are not responsible for the actions of 2 individuals. Jesse and Al are responsible for their own actions.

No ; and you will hear other blacks say those two "Justice Brothers" do not represent them , but in fact , only create racial tension. Those two shysters are puppets of the far left . I've heard men who were on the balcony that fatal day Martin Luther King was struck down - say that Jackson's claims were lies & exagerations because he was inside the room and not with King as he took his last breath (like he claimed) .Jackson has been capitalizing ever since . They manage to fabricate and create tension in any situation that they can remotely manipulate . Like the left..they seem to be able to conjure up a racist in every corner .

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, try to take advantage of their color, pretending to be strong black men, wanting to be like Martin Luther King, but really it's the opposite. I can only imagine what he might have to say about these guys. Anybody can be a hypocrite, whatever race.

I really think it's the other way around. The african Americans follow what they do and say, and this way the black people of today are responsible for thier own actions. As legaly they have all the same opportunities as whites now. The african Americans of today I say are playing a reversal role of what it was like in the 60's. Whites have become the minorities and the minorities are left with a 'higher' sense of rights. All mostly because each ethnicity listens to thier own leaders which then shape the populations (civilians) behaviors.
good question.

I do not know whar racially responsible means...I just know that although I am black I really do not identify with those two guys. I appreciate their communication talents and at times agree with their cause(s).
My main problem with both of them is that they perpetuate the victim stereotype and I cant stand that !!
They are de-powering instead of empowering.

No. Sharpton and Jackson enjoy racism. They love it and want to make sure it never completely goes away. And they will be successful at this because racism is built in to human behavior. All tribes or groups of people are naturally racist, just like people discriminate based on fatness, height, physical attractiveness etc...Racism and other forms of prejudice are built into the genome and can only be taught out of people.

HELL NO! Of course not! Why in the world people think such things is beyond me! Damn, that's like thinking that whites are responsible for what David Duke does. NO WAY!
NO, you're NOT responsible! That's just it- They are only leaders in their own minds, the minds of the naive and ignorant, and according to the media. They are self-appointed and media-appointed. THAT'S IT! Neither you nor anyone else is responsible for what they do other than themselves and the idiots who support them.

"Racially responsible?" That's a new one. What does it mean? Are you asking if you, as a Black person, are responsible for what Al and Jesse do, simply because you are Black? No, of course not! That's just ludicrous! (OK, maybe I should have picked a better word. ;) )

Neither Jackson nor Sharpton would have jobs without strife within the black community.
