Yes, they have to be kept in special conditions to preserve them. Even then, they require restoration every so often.
The first signs you will notice of art decay are colours fading. Usually the strong colours, such as red, fade.
If you have a painting and begin to notice this, move it into a sunless room that is dry and neither too hot nor too cold.

Yes. You've asked this in astronomy, and in an astronomical time scale, everything will change beyond recognition e.g. the Sun will evolve, and may well turn into a red giant star and vapourise planet Earth and everything on it. As to being forgotten, who or what is likely to be around to remember it anyway?
I can't say that I propose to worry much about that, though.

Go to the louvre. All those priceless paintings they have are all out of direct sunlight.
Sunlight will gradually fade everything and gradually disintegrate most things. Next summer, leave a bit of cloth outside and watch it, it will lose colour and then go rock hard and fall apart.

Sunlight itself disintegrates things very slowly.

Everything does, yes. Even black holes- they slowly, slowly evaporate. One day, there'll be nothing left in the whole universe.
