I've not really been on a 'proper' holiday this year, I have taken a few short breaks though:

Monaghan, Ireland
Cork, Ireland
Prague, Czech Rep.
Malaga, Spain (Only 3 days on a stag do)
and I'm going to Spain for christmas (my fiancee's parents live there).

YES ... this Empty Nesting Single Retiree took the time to (FINALLY!) be able to visit her siblings on Vacation this year ... and I did this over the summer.

The truly amazing part of this summer .. when I went to the family farm (and helped out) ...

I was 'surprised' by Fate/God ... because I actually met someone special, and he is Kind, Generous, Caring, Loving, Gentle and a good person. We started dating, and now that I had to return to my HOME (because I am preparing it for sale ... I am now FREE from the responsibility of children since they are now adults) we are currently separated by a couple thousand miles .. but he is going to come down to MY HOME over the Holidays (Christmas/New Years) and I am looking forward to his visit!

My family took a week off this year and did a bunch of one-day trips (beach, bowling, amusement park, etc.), and had at least one meal out every day....it was probably the most relaxing vacation we've taken since having kids (no packing, un-packing, cleaning up and rushing around). And it was soooo much fun!

Yes, I took two...I spent a week in Orange Beach, AL with my family and I went on a seven day cruise with my wife. Both were wonderful in their own way.

I had two holidays:
1. went home to Paris to visit my parents and friends
2. went to Seattle, USA, to visit my colleagues and friends
I wish I could have afforded more as both involved work too ;-(
