You'll find Washington DC very pleasant. I've been there several times. If you can make it to the Smithsonian, it will make the whole trip worthwhile. We've walked around, driven around, and even gotten lost in the rougher part of the city. It was all enjoyable, and we didn't get shot. If you are pleasant, the people will be pleasant.

You can check to see what the weather forecast and temps for the area are at http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Washington&state=DC&site=LWX&textField1=38.895&textField2=-77.0373&e=1

If you can get out of the city with the school trip, Colonial Williamsburg is a great visit.

The only thing I would note about DC is that every time I've been there it rained in the afternoon. My dad used to work at the Pentagon, and he said that was the norm.

Washington DC should be pleasant this time of year - not too cold yet. There are a variety of restaurants for you to choose from - some are expensive and some are cheap - it's up to you to decide how much you want to spend on food. There are many things to do in Washington DC - the Smithsonian Space Museum will take you a whole day to check out. The crime rate is rather high in Washington DC - especially at night - but since you'll be with a group, you shouldn't have any problems. Just don't wander around by yourself at night.

As far as terrorist attacks - there's no greater threat in Washington DC than there is in London. Don't worry about it.

Like any other place America is cool. I have family in DC. Really it depends on what part you are in as to if you will catch a bullet or not..lol I'm not trying to scare you or anything. DC has some really nice parts plus I'm sure your school wouldn't take you anywhere that you may possibly get hurt. Have fun take a camera and show your freinds and family what fun you had while here in the states. Have a nice time!!

DC should be cooling off, fall weather's coming. I'm not crazy about that city, but have to admit there are tons of great restaurants with food from all over the world, and there are plenty of cheap options. With the declining dollar you should be able to find places you can afford, or there's always fast food.

I'm sure you'll have a great time.

You're going to hate it! Everybody only talks about their weight, or someone elses!
