I was issued a ticket in the city by a city police officer. He quoted a state statute for citing me. I think he has to cite a city ordinance for this ticket to stick. Otherwise it can be dismissed? Is that correct? Educated, knowledgeable answers only, please. This is Florida law. Thanks!

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Any sworn officer can enforce any state, federal or city law within his jurisdiction. You may want to consider taking responsibility for your actions instead of seeking loopholes out of them. You know, be an adult.
