After health care I think we should go for entertainment. Free movie tickets and pop corn for all. This way, we can make the Hollywood elite happy, insure all citizens are happy in their pursuit of happiness and subsidize the farmers all at once. (including butter on the pop corn for the dairy lobby).

I think we should start a fund to allow extreme conservatives to emigrate to any other country in the world that's willing to take them. That would be a good use of MY tax dollars.
Why can't they just be like the Amish? Nobody ever pesters the Amish....they live their own way. Today's conservatives could do something similar....find a place out in some rural area where they could live as if it were 1875, and never have to deal with the modern world again. And I for one would be happy to donate funds to get them to do this.

Healthcare being socialized is only on the minds of right wingnuts. Anyone who has read the proposal of the Democrats knows that it is a system we each pay into. It is called AFFORDABLE health care. What is so difficult to understand if one has a mind open enough to understand it? As for a list, since you are so familiar with this list suppose you let us all know what is on it so we can be prepared for it?
Since there is no such thing as a free lunch someone is going to pay for whatever you have. I don't like paying for fire protection for your house, I don't like paying for police to protect your funky butt, I don't like paying for the street you drive on but we are all in this together so I do my share as a member of my community to pay for what we all use. If you go live in a hermit cabin in the boonies of Alaska you probably won't have to pay for anything other than what you use. Wouldn't that be great. Good luck.

The only things that should be socialized in a democracy (oxymoron) are essential services that cannot be done by the private sector, such as Policing and Firefighting. I agree that healhcare needs to be more accessible, but socialization is an expensive and complex alternative, as with any other think that some want to socialize.

Well, we all need cars, so maintenance and repairs as well as upgrades could be the ticket...that would also prop up the auto industry which is corporate so maybe not...I vote for the plane tickets so we can fly somewhere to get decent medical care after ours is destroyed by socialism.

Why don't you check with the REPUBLICAN administration in California. They want to make it a crime not to buy health insurance. Wonder how much the kickback from the insurance companies is?
BTW--that is socialism--the particular version known as fascism. I'm not crazy about Hillary's plan--but I'll take it over the GOP's Gestapo version of "reform."

We are already paying hundreds of billions for regime change in insignificant (albeit oil-rich) countries so health care for Americans seems like a much more appropriate expense.

Like other socialist countries, the next thing will probably be housing. With the recent cooling of the housing market I'm sure some politicians already have plans in the work. They'll create a panic by getting a couple of sob stories and showing how you might be next so you'll buy into it. The way it will work will be that the gov't will subsidize your mortgage a certain percentage based upon your yearly income. The socialists will try to say that housing is a Right given in the Constitution or something to that effect.

Umm, your taxes already pay for the public services you mentioned Romare.
Why should my taxes pay for the healthcare of the lazy sit on the couch person who smokes eats to much and maybe uses drugs? Sorry its not the answer you asked for but I just had to say it.
P.S. Steve C. This expensive war will eventually end. If we socialize healthcare it will only get bigger and more expensive for all tax payers.

Well, I happen to think that it is more fair for all people to have to pay for health care rather then just the property owners. If it was an equalized thing. I suspect it would be a Hell of a lot less expensive for everybody.
