mean...total/total counted
mode...most counted result
median...the result that has half of other results higher and half lower

For example, five results below:

2, 3, 7, 7, 5

mean is (2+3+7+7+5)/5 = 24/5 = 4.8
mode is 7
median is 5

And a statistic is an approximation for the whole population that you calculate from information gathered from a smaller sample of members of the population.
