I started taking my NuvaRing (birth control) which I used to be on for two years, and it never made me lactate. I think it's possible that it could have something to do with it. BUT, then again I think it's possible there is something else going on, that may not be it. I've been uber moody and emotional too so I freaked thinking I was pregnant. The funny thing is that it's colostrum and not milk. The test keeps saying no and when I was pregnant I never lactated until after my daughter was born. BTW, when i did breast feed my left breast always produced milk more easily than the right. AND, I already made the dr's appt and am gonna go discuss it with him, in the meantime I would like some constructive ideas and advice. What could be the reason that I would lactate only on the left side, when the tests say I'm not pregnant and I still have a cycle?

Ask your doctor to test a hormone level called prolactin. If there is something abnormal about this hormone level it could mean you have a problem going on with your pituitary gland.

I have a friend who has some problems with her pituitary gland and one of the symptoms she has with this is lactating and she has never been pregnant.
