Country : Cuba
Population is : 11, 394,043
Growth Rate: 0.273%

Use the growth rate to approximate the population in the year 2008. Show how each of the approximations were made by including your calculations.

Example: The population of India in 2005 was 1,080,264,388. The growth rate is 1.4%
In 2006 , the approximate population is 1,095,388,089.
" 2007 is 1,110,723,523
" 2008 is 1,126,273,652

We would obviously need to know the year when the population was 11,394,043 in Cuba... was it 2005? 2007? 1993?

The rate of growth each year is the original 100% plus an additional 0.273%. This is 100.273% or as a decimal:
1.00273

So multiply the population each year by this rate:

Since you haven't specified the actual starting year, I'll call it year 0:
Year 0: 11,394,043
Year 1: (11,394,043 * 1.00273) = 11,425,149
Year 2: (11,425,149 * 1.00273) = 11,456,340
Year 3: (11,456,340 * 1.00273) = 11,487,616
etc.

If this was for 2005, then 3 years later (in 2008) the population would be: 11,487,616.

In general, in year n the population will be:
Pop(n) = Pop(0) * 1.00273^n

multiply the population by 1.00273

percentage wise, original population is 100%. Growth rate is 0.273%. Add the two together to get the growth of Cuba for 2008.

11394043*1.00273=11425148
