Carroll County Accident and Green Green Grass of Home but all his songs were good ones. All us country fans will miss him.

When a friend of mine asked me to list my 100 favorite charted country songs a few years ago, by the time I finished the list I noticed I had included four Porter Wagoner songs:

"A Satisfied Mind" - Porter's biggest hit in terms of chart success (#1 for four weeks), it contains some of the best philosophy for life you'll ever hear in a song. And, those harmonies cannot be beat.

"The Cold Hard Facts of Life" - written by Bill Anderson, this song has some marvelous lines ("I drove around the block till I was dizzy" and "I drank a fifth of courage and walked in") and a terrific punch line at the end. And, of course, those signature harmonies.

"Misery Loves Company" - written by a young Jerry Hubbard (better known as Jerry Reed), the song is such an oxymoron -- a broken heart over some of the most cheerful 3/4 music you'll hear.

"The Last One to Touch Me" - written by Dolly Parton, this is an exceptional song about true love.

Without a doubt it is Green Green Grass of Home. I have been displaced enough times that that song just gets me.

Oh and I guess I should add Albert Erving since it has my name in it...lol

I loved all his songs, but the "Green, Green Grass of Home", and "A Satisfied Mind" are a couple of my personal favorites! He always put such heart and soul into all of his songs, and you could feel it in his voice! His music clearly touched us all!
