Envy.
I Just had to quote an answer 3 below mine because it is such a classic example of the power of envy Please forgive me. They change the definitions of words to make evil seem good and good seem evil. They justify their envy by making themselves believe they are doing good. Stealing from the rich gets changed to "paying their fair share. " By taxation of the rich, they achieve a slower economy which means people lose their jobs (Not the CEO's of corporations) Mothers are torn from their children to help make ends meet. Old people can't save for retirement. Quite a days work for the father of all lies. People who want to do good, do so much evil. Here's the quote -
"You have nothing to worry about, we just want them to pay their fair share - no one is looking to tax your double wide!"

No, we all love money, its just that liberals don't think they have to corner the market on it and are willing to share some of what they make with the less fortunate...its, you know, a really Christian sort of thing, that charity thing you may remember from Sunday school. Even Jewish people revere charity and collect money for the poor. For them being able to give is a blessing.
Its always the middle class that loses, not the rich. In fact when there is a bill to ease some of the pain on the middle class, you hear a bellow from Republicans about how its leading to socialism or Communism, but when the rich get a tax cut, they call it a shining example of 'trickle down theory'' at work. Its all in the semantics.
The ones that hate themselves are the Midases that sit and count their pennies in fear someone might steal a few. They are the miserable ones.

Liberals look around at the world and all they see is waste and avarice. They see a world that needs saving, people starving in the streets, whole rain forests being cut down faster than you can blink, unnecessary wars killing innocent women and children.
Meanwhile, the extremely rich are supporting these atrocities, by cutting down rain forests for their plantation fields, or starting wars to get more oil to be richer than they already are, or enslaving people to mine diamonds, all to feed their inexhaustible greed. And if they are not supporting these acts, they are doing nothing to stop them, or to help the rest of mankind, or their planet.
The rich have the most power in this world to make a difference, and they either choose not to or to make things worse. Liberals don't hate the rich. They just wish they would do more for the rest of the world.

I think "hate" is a bit strong to use. They may disagree with, or even resent, but I don't find "hate" an appropriate word for your statement/question.
People have different opinions on politics - and they always will. It all depends on their own position in life and the positions of others. When we are in different life positions we often tend to disagree with the views of those who aren't in our positions - naturally this is because our needs and objectives differ.

Liberals love money like everyone else. What makes them mad is when the Republicans serve the wealthiest one percent at the expense of the rest.

The likes of Paris Hilton give us rich people a bad name.
Is she a conservative or a liberal?

because in the liberals' eyes, coservatives are out to help only the rich and the big businesses. Liberals are more for open equality.
